Hacking Question about online play with the gateway

I know on 7.2 emunand you cannot access the eshop, but if you try to play online through the gateway, let say with mario golf, is it still broken or will online play work?

Online works fine as long as the game doesn't require an update patch
Rom patcher is a pc program that allows you to inject headers into roms, there should be a download link in the topic link above

is there a way to update games without eshop, i really want to use the online features of pokemon x, but i need to update the game

The only possible way at this moment in time is to have a hardware modification which would enable you to downgrade your system firmware to 4.5 after you've updated to 7.2 and downloaded the patches required for Pokemon.
After doing that, you'd have to backup the 7.2 firmware which enables you to use the pokemon patches that were downloaded to the SD card and downgrade the system back to 4.5 (requiring the hardware mod) and inject the 7.2 firmware onto your SD card where the Gateway emuNAND is read from.

I don't think there's any reason to upgrade the emuNAND firmware, it doesn't add any new features whilst breaking your access to System Settings.

So the online features of some games will still work? As far as Pokemon goes, when gateway finally fixes access toe shop, that's when we can update?

Yeah, playing games online doesn't require an updated system. And yes, when eshop access becomes possible, you can download the Pokemon patch and play that online.

I actually hope that Gateway will find out to use the retail cartridges.
Only way is the future update 7.x. That is what they are focussing now I guess.

sweet thanks, i ordered mine from real hot stuff, so hopefully it will be here wendesday or thursday.

But, since eshop only games are playable now, does that mean all ehsop games can be played on the gateway? or just 3d 3ds games?


also, not sure how this would work, but since we can play games online, if i update the emunand, will miiverse work, or is that apart of the eshop infrastructure
