Hello everyone,

Just a quick question that I cannot seem to get a proper answer to despite using the search function.

I have the following:
3ds XL on firmware 4.5 (realnand)
official Gateway card firmware 2.1b
Emunand firmware 7.1

My question is the following: if I have a back up of my original emunand running on 6.3 (by using the read function in the win32disk program) can I get my emunand back to 6.3? If so, how? Should I use win32disk again to write the image back to my sd card?

The reasonI would like to go back is because I want to play my Yoshi's New Island european rom and, unfortunately, emunand 7.1 is not compatible with european roms.

Thanks for your reply.

Thanks for the reply. The Omega release is very very very tempting but I will pass. I will give it a month before trying as I really do not trust the firmware enough to risk bricking my console. The fact that there is no going back scares me as well. What if we do discover something as bad as the 2.1b2 release? What then? there is no other alternative so we will be locked in and awaiting a ticking bomb.

As for my initial problem... I solved it. I used win32disk imager to copy my emunand 6.3 image file to the sd card. It took around an hour to do but once done, I had emunand 6.3 running. I also made sure to backup all my latest saves before doing this so once the process was done, I simply copied over all my saves.

Let this be a lesson to everyone. Make an image backup of your SD cards before touching anything. This will give you the opportunity to go back to an older emunand firmware should you ever need to do so.

you understand that the update is upon the gateway card and not the 3ds ? also your emunand firmware will also be the same as prior the update .
i was using the ticking bomb as you say for a long time and nothing happened

yes as dragonmaster said the latest version is more or less an update to the card itself and its security measures are brickless the gateway launcher.dat now uses the gateway card itself for verification and will not boot into gateway mode unless its inserted
