Well, Kotaro Uchikoshi, the writer of the first two Zero Escape games delivered bad news about the third game via twitter. Basically despite the Zero Espace series being popular outside of japan, in japan it didn't sell very well and as such the corporate suit and tie people who invested in the series in the past decided they won't do it again for the third game.

An interesting series, although it is in a way a niche, at least not very popular over here based on availability. Still haven't played the second one that much, but then again, I haven't had much time to play :I

What's the deal with the "Manage Access List" link at the top of the thread? What is the access list?

Mind you, the japanese trailers on youtube of Zero Espace 1 and 2 have more english comments than japanese ones.

Although he said that KickStarter didn't have enough appeal to him it maybe the only way to do it unless another publisher is willing to step up, a kick starter for a few episodic content or maybe even going fully digital with the game maybe one of the only options

what do people expect? it doesnt matter if the game is incredible, is popular with some people, or if if it has a core fanbase. the game didnt sell that well. thats about all investors care about. if you want to make sure a series will go on, advertise the heck out of it to everyone you know, preferably people without flashcards.

I haven't played VLR (dying to, though) but if this is true then it's incredibly sad, the infinity series are my favorite gaems ever :(
That aside it's pretty weird seeing a (semi) visual novel doing better outside of japan than in japan itself.

For a visual novel, VLR series carries more dark tone than most Japanese visual novel. So I'm not surprised that it didn't appeal to most Japanese gamers.
