From what another user told me, the 3DS Settings menu does not work on 2.0b1 firmware if you have the emuNAND upgraded to 7.1. Neither does the eShop or Mii channel. I also have 2.0b1 and none of these channels work for me. They just hang at the Nintendo logo.

If you had 2.0b1 and updated to emuNAND 6.0 before 7.0 came out then those channels worked.
Correct. I simply installed with 2.0b2 and updated my emuNAND, then went and updated any games that needed it in addition to downloading any eShop apps I wanted. Afterward I downgraded to 2.0b1. All the apps still work, as does playing any retail cartridge online. System settings and eShop will not launch, however. Which I don't see as a huge downside considering messing with system settings in emuNAND too much can brick you without even hitting the bricking code. Only annoying part is not being able to add new wifi connections.

Is there any way i can see that my EmuNAND is actually updated to the last version though? Also, stupid question but to downgrade, you have to just change the Launcher.dat file or also re-do the whole process with the blue card?

You have to check emuNAND's system settings while still running 2.0b2 in order to see that it's updated to 7.1. Alternatively, if system settings doesn't launch under 2.0b1, you're clearly past 6.3, at least. And yeah, you just have to switch out the Launcher.dat file.

Thanks a lot. For now I have put pokemon in while in classic mode and it didn't ask me for any update of any kind (but it's running fine, I'm playing offline for now though). When I restart my 3DS my sysNand is still 4.4 so I guess I'm good for now. I hope they release 2.0 final soon.

I'm on 1.2 as I as getting the hang on home>X bug in 2.0b1, but I'm getting to the point in Fire Emblem where it would be nice to get the spotpass stuff.

Is there any way to avoid the save bug in 2.0b1 for sure? When I asked about this before someone suggest that I do a test save, if it worked then saves would work until I turn my 3DS off. Is this true? I don't want to beat a difficult mission and then lose my save.

I've tried this, and it does work.

As for any other methods, I've heard of waiting about 15 seconds before pressing the X button. I haven't tested that one, though.

OK, I'll try that. Wouldn't be that big of an issue with other games, but on hard fire emlbem can take a while to finish a chapter.

So once I set up emunand on 2.0b1 I can just keep my 3DS online? I'll delete the wifi info on my sysnand, but leaving the emunand online should be fine right? Or should I only put it online to get the spotpass DLC? I haven't actually used emunand before, but thought I should try and get the Fire Emblem stuff now in case it gets blocked in the future.

I tried to put a game on the micro sd (using dd on macos) but when in gateway mode, if I insert the red card with the said micro sd, it's not detected (the menu shows the game slot as empty)

Is there any way to test if the image of a game has been correctly written or if the problem comes from my red card?

If I delete the wifi connection on my sysnand would it matter if I left it on, other than battery concerns?

No, unless you walk by "Nintendo Zones" regularly. Just remember that if you edit your internet settings in Emunand, it also effects your Sysnand. So if you add or delete a connection in Emunand, remember that you have to re-delete the connection settings from your regular nand.

Try inserting and re-inserting the mini SD card a couple times, and putting the game card back in.

Not really, just make sure you're using the Win32 imager (Or Gateway's MAC version) to write games to the Mini SD, and that you don't interrupt the writing process.

I used dd on Mac terminal to write my image (My version of OSx doesn't support the official software) as I found the tip searching in this forum and someone was saying it was also working. I'll try to get a new usb card reader tomorrow so i can try from my pc and use win32 maybe. Trying the reinserting thing but it doesnt seem to appear.

As long as the ROM is being directly imaged to the SD it should work fine, but if you're going to get an adapter for Windows, A Mini SD to USB adapter should do nicely. I can't vouch for anything working on a Mac, as I'm completely illiterate to them and I don't own one.

My two R4's came with "Mini SD to USB" adapters in the package, so now I've got like 6 of them lying around my house (Worthless info, it's just weird how many I have all of the sudden).

I'm currently trying to rewrite the image on the microsd from the mac and see what happens. Otherwise i'll have to wait tomorrow and get a reader to use on the PC. I've been trying to see if there were cases of defective red card that happened before but searches on the forum almost only gimme 10 pages of result pointing to the bricks topics (which is unrelated)

There have been cases, but it's 1 in a ton. It's probably an issue with your writing system, and if you can't get it working, your best bet is to wait until tomorrow when you get your adapter. Don't get too worried, I had issues with my card the first time I tried using it too...

Also, make sure you're actually in Gateway Mode. If you're not in Gateway Mode, the card won't be detected.

It didn't work either and i was in gateway mode. I guess for tonight I'm gonna go relax and play pokemon X and will see tomorrow. Will post the results when i know more. Thanks for helping :)

Edit: At least when i test the red card under the gateway menu, all 4 tests come positive.

I have a spare regular DS laying around. I want to use the DS cart that came with the Gateway to run DS games. How do I go about doing this? What is the brand of the blue card that came with the Gateway? Where's the launcher and all that stuff?

Also, if I use it on my regular DS will I still be able to use it for Gateway installation on my 3DS or will it be forever changed?

It's some sort of modified R4i (I guess as the folder the firmware comes in is Blue Card (R4i))

Download the 2.02b release from here and copy everything inside the blue card folder to the micro SD card for the blue card: http://www.gateway-3ds.com/downloads.html
