Still itching for another jrpg.

Any recommendations?
Is it worth getting Persona 3, or is it one of those situations where the sequel is so polished that it makes the previous hard to enjoy?

I enjoyed the plot of P3 more than I did P4's, and while there were certainly improvements in P4's time management and dungeon systems I can't say it really makes P3 look bad. If the simplified visual-novel style (outside of battle/dungeon exploration) of P3P won't bother you, I'd say absolutely go for it. Most of the Vita's JRPG library is PSP games anyways.

If you don't mind getting some psp jrpgs, growlanser 4 wayfarer of time or legend of heroes trails in the sky, persona 3p is great aswell. ys is great aswell but is an arpg.

I second YS memories of celceta.
Also Soul sacrifice, Gravity Rush and Rainbow moon.

In February we also get Toukiden: The age of demons.

Definitely get Ys, it's the best game on Vita imo. Easily get 40 hours out of it, 60 if going for platinum. Just make sure you play it on hard mode first run.
I liked it way more than P4G.

Always hard mode first ;)

Having a pain in the ass in persona 4 because of that though since I took hard difficult :S
Require's some grinding or else you get one hit'd by some bosses :S

That is normal for persona. The difficulties in those games only mess with how elemental damage works. An most bosses after the third boss don't use elementals. so one hits are pretty natural no matter which mode you play on.

An you guys make me wish I started YS on hard now if that is all it took >< aside from that though if you do get YS spring for the silver edition. It comes with a 3 disc music soundtrack with music from across the entire series, a cloth map, a really nice strategy guide written as more an informal journal from the main character's point of view, and a compass. The strategy guide is a really nice reason to get the silver edition, it just adds so much more to the game with how well written it is.

Great suggestions

Yeah, I think I'm going to take a brief rpg break and stick with a story based game like walking dead or zero escape, then get Persona 3, or hopefully hold out for a new release.

Try to play Walking Dead on PC if possible, since both console and Vita can suffer lag which messed up quick time action.

Definitely get Zero Escape on Vita, much better version than 3DS. While at it get Dangan Ronpa which is coming next month, a criminal thriller visual novel with Ace Attorney style.

There is Atelier series for both PS3 and Vita. Traditional RPG.

I´d say... yeah, play it again.
YS MoC is a very great game, it´s the only YS that actually looked good to me.
there are other great games like Trigger Happy Havoc, Zero Escape and Gravity Rush, that you should definetly buy!

Conception 2 is coming for the vita soon and it's REALLLY close to persona 4
For the sake of not starting another thread, does anyone know if there are going to be any major differences between the 3DS and Vita versions? I still find it odd that an obscure handheld jrpg is being published on multiple handhelds.

-3DS game runs at 30 fps while Vita runs at 60.
-The 3DS version uses 2D models while the Vita version uses 3D models.
-The 3DS graphics are downgraded
-3DS is missing multiplayer features

So yeah, the Vita version wins hands down.

I just really felt the need to stress how great RPG's are on the Vita.
It's the perfect system to consume them on.

Just pick up and go, hibernate mid dungeon so you don't have to run around looking for a save point, can have a guide/faq/map up on the browser if you need it.
It's just so nice to not have to load up your game, skip though several different publish/developer logos, intro movie, and then load your save, ever single time you want to get some time in.
60-80 hours isn't daunting when I can resume my spot instantly, and can accomplish something those quick 15-30 min gaming sessions.

/and that's before great screen & dual analog sticks
