Considering the orange light on the front of the 3ds that shows whether or not it is charging, couldn't the gateway team manipulate the light to constantly be on when in sysNAND and function regularly in emuNAND. This would allow us to see what NAND we were on without having text indication. Just a thought.

Inb4 "there's an led on the red card they could just use", part of the idea is that it is discreet. Also, yes, obviously when charging the orange light would be on but if you can't deduce that yourself then should you be attempting anything gateway related anyways?

You know, you could just change the language to perfectly identify whether you are using the real NAND or the emuNAND. Also, they already said they are implementing something that will make the hack stay after exiting System Settings.

Sounds like something that could be added, yeah. Just not really high priority given that you can set up different sets of icons/folders to make it obvious when you're in sysNAND or emuNAND.

Or you know Common sense would tell you:

  1. If you see the Miiverse app on your home screen your in emunand.
  2. If you see the GW3D label were your version number is your in emunand
  3. If you actually follow the instructions exactly to the letter instead of half assing it then you won't update your system nand. (This applies to everyone who hasnt fully read the read me and still updated anyway).

I have a folder named E, then I know for sure I'm on emuNAND. But has vengenceonu said there are other ways apart from the letters in front of the firmware to tell which NAND your on...........................sudeki300

Just change the time by an hour or more , have the right time for your emuNAND, it always shows the time at the top, it would be good for people afraid to update I know it says GW3D but this way when you move over to update or if you go to whatever settings you will know if your still in emuNAND or not.

Wasn't that LED controlled by a seperate controller? That means the system won't be able to access it.

Hmm, possibly. I was just thinking that a hardware indication of the NAND would negate the need for any icon/folder/time/etc changes. It's not about "just being able to do it another way" as many are saying, it's about making it easy and accessible to all without the need for any intervention.

Which is fine, but again, not high priority. If you're a complete noob when it comes to hardware/software mods, you aren't going to be the type of person buying a 3DS flash cart anyway.

I agree it's not high priority but it is a step closer to making the gateway more accessible which I'm sure the gw team would have no objections towards considering it negates a risk and could expand the more casual user base that is interested in gw.

Well they've been testing a method to block unwanted sysNAND updates altogether, which is really the only method by which to completely noob-proof it. Even if you make a statement about how the LED indicator works on your website and implement that change, we're talking about the people who don't read the documentation to begin with, so it's kind of a wash.

Just one folder? I have "HELLO WORLD!" spelled out with folders splashed across my emunand menu. Also, Parental control and disabling sysnand wifi go a really long way.
