Sure, why not. Gen 6 is already hacks-prone, since the 3ds itself (currently) is. Pokemon were already encrypted all the way from gen 4 (or 3?), and changed every time, but since one could look at the game code, the encryption could be reversed. Patching already existing games to add new values and stuff can be done, right, but what about pokemon existing before the patch? What about the ones on nintendo's servers too? It would be a massive amount of work to update all of them, and just to delay editing until the new values are documented.NDS ones, yes, fair enough. Pokemon X/Y and all future Pokemon games? Well-within the realm of possibility. The Pokemon format has changed over time - new values were added periodically. There's absolutely no reason why future games shouldn't encrypt them, or even contemporary 3DS ones via patches. It's not rocket science, it's pure laziness.
They should have started fresh if they really wanted to fight pokemon generation of gen V and earlier pokemon. They rather wanted to have us transfer them over, so here we are.
