If that works for you, it's good; but I want to confirm that at least this is not the case for every game. I can enter to Classic mode with my MK7 cartridge inserted and it's still detected.
For anyone that wants to get pokemon to work on classic mode
If the error message shows up, to delete it in classic mode, hold all the face, shoulder buttons, and hold up on the d-pad while booting for it initalize the data. Deleting it with B+X+up from the title screen on a legit 3ds won't work.

Ok. Downloading the system update from the system settings WHILE I am in GW mode. But dang, it is SLOW from a public wifi restaurant host.
After this I should be able to run the update from the same page and have 6.3 on emunand side correct?

I'm reading what's this update about and it seems that with this new firmware, Nintendo will no longer allow us the access to eShops for different countries and states :/ so now you will be stuck with prices of a single eShop (of your country). Good bye, Canadian eShop with cheap prices.
Absolutely normal, it is expected behavior. Which is why some here have suggested you do something to distinguish your realNAND and emuNAND. For me I created a folder in my emuNAND labeled: "emuNAND."
That way I wont make the mistake of updating my realNAND.
Much cheaper compared to the Mexican eShop, the American eShop still gets good prices.
I did that too. So went to eshop and got error code: 007-2923. Is that due to shop being down?
Thanks for the help everyone. Got the 6.3 emunand set up just fine, but I missed the eshop window to buy stuff until the update tonight. Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens and what is working/broken.
Also, since updating to 6.3, I started having the "striped line" freeze EVERY time when trying to go into emunand, or "Boot GW mode, in the GUI launcher. (5 out of 5 times freezing)
I read a post saying to hold L and boot into the GUI launcher from the "DS profile" option BUT continue to hold down L about 5 seconds AFTER you get to the GUI icon choices. So far, this method has worked 3 out of 3 times. I choose the "Boot GW mode/1st option" in the GUI and get the stripes for about 3 seconds and then *boop!* into the 6.3 emunand I go. ;-)
But damnit....if I missed the chance to have Duel Destinies by 1 day........ :-/ Time will tell I suppose.
BTW, I already backed up the original nand.bin, but is there any reason to back up the new 6.3 emunand setting, or that's pointless at this stage? (or it's not possible i.e. doesn't reside on SD card)

Can you explain in more detail? I JUST did the update about 20 minutes ago and it worked fine to get me into gw 6.3. I was at a cafe hotspot and had a signal BUT it kept failing. Had to move closer to the source (was outside the restaurant at first) and then it worked.
I also had NO wifi/internet setting setup on the REALnand side. I only setup wifi connections once I was in the emunand side (so GW 4.4.0 for me) and went into system setting/internet settings, and turned on wifi, had it find a connection point (the restaurant wifi) connected, clicked to the 3rd page in the settings where it says "update system" and had it download and automatically apply 6.3 to the EMUnand side.
When I went back and forth, I saw the REALnand side did NOT have any wifi connections saved, but the EMUnand side still showed a saved connection (and I had a bunch of footstep counts for whatever reason) :-P
did you read the thread? probably not.
leave the 3ds in sleep mode with the wifi on and it will download the 6.3 firmware. that way, you will be able to update emunand to 6.3 even if 7.0 is out.
moreover, if you backup the nand, you will have a 4.x backup with the 6.3 update included! very useful, if you plan on making the hardware mod.
It couldn't hurt if you want to be extra cautious. You can use the same program they suggest you use for writing 3ds roms to the sd card (Win32DiskImager). Just select the "read" option after setting the path and filename and it will make a 1:1 image backup of your sd card.
