Hacking Where to get a firmware 4.5 or below 3DS XL?

It can be 4.5.0 or lower, I'm not sure what the lowest possible firmware is for a SW12 3DS XL but then again it does not matter since it doesn't get below 4.1.0.

Ok so i went to meijer for some 2/ $5 gallon of ice cream decided to head over to the electronics section.

only 1 guy working no one else in there asked if he could help me find a specific make of 3ds XL

first one was:SW40
a couple were: SW13
i believe there were 1 or 2 sw12's in there as well.


will sw13 work? and whats s40 lol>?

SW13 won't work. You need SW12 at most.

You need SW12 and copyright 2012. Anything lower then SW12 will work fine too.

Hows that ? the copyright is 2012 so it's 4.5 and below right ?

Got mine in yesterday , SUF1018 with firmware 4.3 and there is at least one more on this thread which was ok when he received his bundle last week.

After years of lurking i decided to give my contribution XD.
Recently I also found myself struggle searching for a 4.5 or below 3ds. After doing some research on gba-temp and on the internet in general, i found that the only certain way to acquire an exploitable console is to relie on old bundles; my conclusions are:
FOR THE EUROPEAN MARKET
3ds with mario land bundle (not the XL) should have a low firmware (probably even lower than 4.0)
3ds XL with mario kart preloaded SHOULD have an exploitable firmware
3ds XL with Fire emblem bundle preloaded SHOULD have an exploitable firmware
3ds XL with Monster hunter 3 preloaded HAS 4.5.something

Actually the last bundle i've listed is the one i've bought so i can confirm that.

i would like also to make a suggestion, can we open a dedicated thread for other people where in the first post we list al those infos? something like: [REGION][PRODUCTION ID][YEAR OF PRDUCTION][3DS/3DSXL][BUNDLED GAME IF ANY][FW VERSION]
i suggest this because when i received my 3ds xl monster hunter bundle, i had a mini heart attack reading "copyright nintendo 2013" but then i found a correct firmware, clearly many console released in the early 2013 may have the same firmware version.
I hope i didn't make a useless or repetitive post, also please excuse me if what i've said isn't perfectly clear 'cause i'm not english XD


EDIT: clearly buying a bundled version is more expensive, but for those like me who have also an updated old 3ds, i would like to point out that for a couple of month, at least here in europe, nintendo is offering a redeem code for mario 3d land if yuo register a 3ds or 3ds XL and one of the eligible games the bin N has listed on it's site, monster hunter 3 is in that list, so at least we can have a free game to download on the updated 3ds

I was surprised when it wouldn't turn on right out of the box because usually electronics are pre-charged, but I guess this unit has been in the box for more than a year.

This is GREAT news thanks! I ordered a Red from the Toys R Us eBay sale as well. It's on the truck for delivery by the end of today. I will update this post when I check my 3DS XL Red!

EDIT: Just wanted to update this post finally. Opened my RED from Toys R Us eBay sale. Firmware 4.4 =) Serial # on box SW11

From the data we got the MK7 bundle seems the safest option if you can't check the box for the serial number. I don't know, is amazon sending hardware outside of UK?
