Have some questions based on emunand. Obviously it's not available to us, but some of you seem to understand how it will work.

1. Will it allow region spoofing on the eshop? i.e. I can connect and potentially find a Jap only release and download/buy it.

2. Does it save stuff from the eshop (not talking about region spoofing here) to the SD card, or the 3ds itself?

Thanks for any info. (if there is info about this!)

1. No. For that, you will need to use a NAND backup from another 3DS of a different region, which is simply impossible at the moment.

2. To the SD card.

All of the above are conjectures.

I forgot to mention that eShop games are saved to the SD card under regular conditions (except for DSi games), but the necessary keys to launch the games are store on the 3DS's NAND, therefore, they'll be stored on the SD while using EmuLand (EmuNAND).

We don't really know, all we can do is speculate. I'm not sure about the eshop fw spoofing, probably not.
I believe that eshop saves to the sd card instead of the nand but I may be wrong...if it saves to the nand then the eshop under emunand will save in the nand on the sd card, otherwise the saves will be on the sd card.

they said that you can still use your SD while you use it to emulate your nand, based on that i guess that the emulated nand interacts with the SD just like it if where working from the system's nand.

PS. Didn't know if you guys noticed. But all the videos of the GW are back online in Jerry Lee's youtube account and in GW's website. The appear to be alive and involved with that thing called Gateway.

I checked with firefox and the last time that www.gateway-3ds.com was updated was on Nov 14. They changed their latest post from

there has been a first clone announced under 2 different brand names" To
" there has been a clone announced under various different brand names"

They considered Orange 3DS as well, and now they used the word "various" in case more clones appear. But still, it seems that they are right.

Ah dangit. I guess that means never playing that jap eshop only, nekketsu riki game. (River city ransom based)
I'm hoping SOMEONE shares a rom of the 25th anniversary special- kunio 3ds game someday, if the region spoof gets released for real.

Hi, need your help

will i be able to update the firmware of my 3ds xl asia (fw4.4) with original game carts from US e.g Donkey Kong CR3D which require fw4.5?

if can, can i do it in gateway mode?

do i need to re-apply the gateway blue cards hacks after in fw4.5?

is it worth it to update from fw4.4 to fw4.5 or i just need to wait for gateway 2.0? TQ

1. What's a "XL Asia"? The Asian regions are Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and China (iQue). Your country belongs to the American region of the 3DS. Anyway, in case your 3DS is not from the U region, the answer is no.

2. Why do you want to update in GW mode? and why do you want to update from 4.4 to 4.5 in the first place? If you are asking if you can play the game in gateway mode, yes, you can because of the firmware spoof.

3. I don't know, probably not. Apparently, the DS hack (blue Gateway) only deactivates after playing a DS game. I would recommend to deactivate this hack if you are planning to update from 4.4 to... 4.5 ...

4. LOL, no. It's not worth the update, just wait for the EmuNAND feature so you can update straight to 6.3.

Hi, thanks kyogre123 for the quick reply.

1. Mine is for Singapore/Msia region 3ds xl. Still can play US game cards but can't join nintendo club. I assumed that since I can play us game cards, i also can use the card to update my firmware.

2. I worried that i miss some features in fw4.5 that are not available in fw4.4 and also in case future gateway update requires fw4.5 minimum.

3. OK noted. i have read somewhere in the thread that there is possibility of bricking when updating to higher firmware when in gateway mode.

4. OK, will wait patiently for the gateway update.

Sorry for noob. Thanks again.

Just to clarify, I've read that Asian countries get a custom charger or at least that's what I remember, but the 3DS is exactly the same, it's an authentic American 3DS. You can even change your country to Mexico in your system as I can change mine to Singapore, so there's absolutely no difference.

1. E-shop region is the consoles Firmware Region, e.g you cant get Jap releases on a USA console

2. Saves stuff to SD like it normally would

The region is software based, though, isn't it? No hardware components are responsible for distinguishing between regions, is what I'm trying to say. So it could be possible to access the other regions' eshop ¯\(´-´)/¯

Gateway 3DS 2.0 Sneak Peak 1 of 2

01/11/2013
Our work is close to completion

20/11/2013
Still nothing?

I am sad. 2 months without an update, well, ok. Now 20 days without a news. I mean that's pretty stupid.I got some friends who wanted to buy the Gateway 3DS. When I told them that Pokemon is not working on it, and that we are waiting since 2 months for an update, they cancelled their order.

Maybe they could give us a release date? Like "hey guys, we are releasing our new fantastic firmware the 1st of December!".

I really think that they need to keep up us a little bit more updated about their work.

I agree with the keeping us updated part, but it's been explained before that giving an ETA for something like this is just not done, because things always could go wrong (Devs accidently roll back/delete code, hardware failure etc) and there are more factors like those involved.

At least they could tell us they won't release it next 2 weeks, 1 month ... So we don't have to check their site with high hope every day and then disapointed :(

That's what I wanted to say. A release date would be really appreciated..

Im looking to take a different approach. Im gonna give them until Dec 1st to at least update me about Gateway 2.0. If that doesnt happen, then Im gonna sell my Gateway for $70 (with sdcards) and buy Zelda. Once I beat Zelda, then Im selling my 3DS with Zelda for $150. Nothing else really out there to play.

So you bought a Gateway for about $80 and the only game you care about is A Zelda Between worlds? The original game is cheaper, you know...

his thoughts have a lot of sense, i have a lot of games to finish yet, but if the compatibility list is not expanded for the moment when i finish them. then the only thing that would matter are the newer games. (Zelda and pokemon) and if they are not compatible by then, i will get rid of the gateway immediately
