I'm also glad that they are doing lots of testing. If testing is not done well, it's not impossible that a bad update will destroy the 3DS of all the Gateway users around the world.
The PDF is a nice touch.

if its a clone then worst case is bad build quality to keep it up to date would be as simple as ripping gateway stuff from there site and putting it on the clone.
Wont be long untill someone makes a hack for normal flash card to run CFW from SD card making clones, gateway not needed anyway.

Well, this is what Gateway team told ME via Email
"Currently it is not compatible with firmware above 4.5
but we are working on making it compatible as quickly as possible with 5.x and 6.x firmwares"
The label on my red one got stuck in my 3DS and tore off after like two days of use.
It works fine, but it still uses cheap Chinese tech no matter how you look at it. Pretty much all flash carts do.

Ah, well, the whole sticker thing is a bit weird. Apparently, the cards and stickers were sent out seperately, and the distributors had to apply them. So I guess it comes down to whether or not your distributor sucks at applying stickers. Mine doesn't.
Well, my Red Gateway card is pretty shitty too. I have micro-SD slot with a spring that functions very bad and it is misaligned. I just don’t use the spring and take out the card without the click. And the slot is just covered with a sticker. So, this is what I call cheap Chinese design and components.
gateway is great, their support is great and their english is legible unlike 90% of other flashcard companies.
Too bad im not on 4.5

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.+1

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.+1 -

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60
