I am eagerly awaiting my gateway 3ds, so I have not tried it myself yet. But I have been thinking about the one rom per card thing.

First thought is this is kind of a pain. If I want to have different roms, i either have to rewrite to my sd card every time I want to play something else (kind of a pain), or get multiple sd cards for different roms (spend some $$).

But maybe it is a good thing because the investment will make it more likely I will play through a ROM, or at least give it a chance. Of course, it is still not quite the same level of investment as buying a retail game, or gateway would probably not sell. But it is still definitely more of an investment than say DS roms or PSP roms, where I can copy a whole bunch at once and just exit out and pick another if I don't immediately like the game. So maybe this is a good thing because it will make me spend more times with games before I move on to the next one.

Anyway just some thoughts while I wait for my gateway to arrive :D

Not really. I remember playing a bunch of DS games I never would have if it weren't for how easy it was to just download and place on the microsd. Because of the gateway process you're less likely to try out those games you think won't be worth it.

Well that's what I mean, I think it is a blessing in disguise :D The thing that always bugged me about the DS and PSP was I never finished roms. THe games I buy I almost always beat, but it was pretty rare, maybe never happen that i beat a rom.

Having multiple games on a device is indeed a luxury.
And you're right on that.
Having a load of games on your console/handheld almost certainly will leave you with them not finishing/not even playing.

Early pirate syndrome perhaps?

I actually finished HP:PoA and Super Mario RPG, as well as Chrono Trigger (why do I keep saying this?). But yeah, I haven't finished other games on here. Especially not those Pokemon games *shudders*
I could be playing them instead of commenting on this forum.

Really? Thought the Gateway was able to hold several games on its mSD. Might have confused that with game saves not wiping themselves if the game was changed. :(

Well that sucks, maybe should have held off on ordering one now. :(

So I take it there's no point in getting a 32GB mSD for it, better off to just get a 2GB 10 channel card?

Why not get a 32GB mSD and wait for the magical moment to appear.

You'll be able to enjoy the announcement + the firmware release that supports multiple ROMs more that way.

I hope it does come, I hope the Gateway can do anything future cards will do, otherwise I'll have to shell out another $80 down the line ;P

I take it the DS card works as normal, can load several games on there, yes?

Probably cause you didn't inform yourself properly.

Doesn't matter tho.
The blue GW plays DS games but it requires patching as said before.
The red GW card plays 3DS games.

I think you're pretty well set.
Just a matter of waiting for Multi ROM if you want it badly.

Personally I say it differs on the person.
I say it's a good thing because when I first started pirating, I bought a 16GB microSD card and just filled it, then didn't play any of the games. Thus I ended up downgrading back down to 4GB and had to beat the games so I could delete them. One ROM per SD card pretty much means I would have to do the same.

Others might have better self-control and dedication than me.

Like others have said, it's a matter of opinion. I've beaten two games (RPGs, so 30+ hours per), but started 3 others without finishing them. Having to stick to one game per SD card didn't really affect me. If I really like a game, I'll play it. If I find it boring, I won't. My piracy syndrome is not nearly as bad as it used to be (had over 300GB worth of games on my PC).

Yeah I finished DQ 9 after a 2 year break
....I have left many games on there to be completed. Though I finished all the Attorney series except Miles Edgeworth 2......too good to drop down. Radiant Historia is really, really good....did not play anything else when I was on that....even the PS3 was on hold.

Now I just download and wait for the Gateway price to drop to non buyer remorse level.

no, it's a dealbreaker, at least for me. :hateit:

Something like multirom support is the single most important feature,
I would like to have all my five fav 3DS games to date on one card.

Shelling out money for a bunch of SDHC cards +80USD for the gateway
does not sound convincing to me at all. I guess swapping cards a lot
will break this mirco card bracket sooner or later.
