Hi!

I just want to apologize in advance for my English but i should make myself understandable.

I have several questions about softmodding a Wii U and was hoping if someone hear could clarify a thing or two.

1. I have a ordered a Wii U with Lego Batman (wii game) with a 2gb Transcend SD card. Should i update the system menu on my Wii U BEFORE or AFTER I softmod it?

2. If i have a Pal Wii U can I play Wii NTSC backups?

3. If i have a Pal Wii U can I play Wiiware NTSC backups?

4. Can i put both Wii and WiWare backups in the same HDD?

5. Is it possible to use an USB stick to play backups with?

6. What Loader is best to download, from Wiiflow 4.1.3 or USB Loader GX r1217 or CFG USB Loader MOD v70 r65? Or can i use all three?

Thank you in advance for the help!

Yes you can play other region wii games

The wii ware gets installed to either the vwii memory or if no room, moved to the sd card like it did on the wii

No you cannot play wii ware games from other regions. You need to remove the region lock by using "free the wads" pc program

Personally I use USB loader gx. I've found that to have the best layout and usability. But it is mostly personal preference. And yes you can use all 3

And yes you can update the wii u to the latest version. So far nintendo have to bothered to try and block any vwii modding..... So far

You can use us sticks for backup wii games. You can also use sd cards. But personally a portable HDD is the best. Although to get a portable HDD to work you will most likely need a Y-cable as the wii u USB ports a cheap and nasty, which do not output enough power to run a HDD, so it needs the Y-cable

I just want to thank you two very much for helping out a beginner like me.

But i have one last question. I changed all my Wiiware backups with free the Wads program. Is there a risk to brick my console for changing the region if i play these games?

i cant answer about getting a brick if you change your wiiware games regions but. my emulated nand from my original wii works fine on my vwii admitable i havnt had time to try many games out but from what i have seen it will run different region wiiware games providing you have patched ios 80. i think thats the main one for vc/wiiware. if you dont have an emulated nand i would advise looking into it (its really worth doing)

So i followed the great guide from Truth (http://gbatemp.net/threads/simple-guide-to-install-cios-on-vwii-backup-nand-and-keys.339890/) and everything works great.
But I cant play Wiware from SD-card so im guessing thats what the patch IOS80 is about.

But can i install my Wiiware wads to a usb memory? Or does it have to be a 2gb SD (not hc) card or the internal vWii memory that can have installed Wiiware wads?

And how do I install IOS80? From Homebrew channel directly or from d2x-v10-beta52-vWii ?
Can someone tell me in a very user friendly way. Thanks for the help once again!

first of all - don´t install anything that messes with IOS 80 (System Menu), you will get a brick!

Now as for you not being able to run Wiware from SD

I may be totaly wrong on this but:

I think you always need to install wads, you can't play them off the SD card or USB
It is possible to use Emunand on regular old wii but i have no clue on Wii U.

The only advice i can offer is to restrain yourself from doing anything until you get a answer from a better source.

there is a new patched ios 80 and yes that will allow you to install wads to your vwii nand and then copy them to an sd card and load them via that.
or even better check out emulated nands (currently no information online about emunand on vwii) but works perfectly on normall wii

Thanks, jammy. I will try and install ios80 right away.
2 more questions (i know the questions never seems to stop, sorry).

1. How do i turn off the wifi in Wii-U? Dont want it to install some automatic system updates, just in case it might brick my system. Is it possible to turn off the Wifi once its active?

2. When i start USB loader gx it freezes at Initialize usb device. The only way to make it wo´k is to start the usb-harddrive after i start USB loader GX (during the 20 second window). Is there any other way to make the harddrive work all the time with USB loader gx? I dont have the same problem in Wiiflow but the compatibility is much worse.
Thanks for the help!

1. The only things i can think of is to either delete the wifi connection on the wiiu, or access ur router and disable internet access to the wiiu mac, but going offline u will be missing out on a lot of stuff no?...

2. Maybe u need a Y cable for more juice to the hdd? or try formating to something else, dunno, i don't have problems cause i connect my wiiu directly to my pc via usb, so i just dl any game and play it directly from the pc, dun have to copy to a usb hdd and going back and forth with it (have to keep pc on though lol).

you dont need the internet turned off i promise you its fine with it on. i had/have mine on the hole time vwii is already on highest update so nothing can be affected and as for usbloader i dont really have an answer for that. i think alot of people are having simular problems not just with usbloadergx. i use wiiflow through the homebrew channel works perfectly but i would like a forwarder channel at some point. hope this answers your questions :) also check and make sure you are using the correct method for patching ios 80 on vwii and everything should be fine.
