Well, if anyone is interested in a full video guide on how to do the mod, I should be getting in a few screens and cables this week and can try recording the process. It is actually not that difficult to do if you have done any sort of tinkering and soldering before. I will probably also be putting the upgraded units up for sale if folks are interested in buying on (in the USA).

More to come toward the end of the upcoming week.

still waiting for a review on the alternative points sugested by wolffangalchemist.
Maybe with one of those the flickering efect on gb games will be gone (on my case)

What flickering effect?? On your back lit GBA??? I have yet to test any GBC games on mine, so now I'm curious.

Can you explain in more detail this flickering effect? I wonder if it is related to the potentiometer.

Is this what you mean?

I will try to re-record tomorrow in bright daylight to see if this helps. But I think I see what you mean. I'll tinker with the potentiometer to see if it helps and report back. There are some very hard-to-notice but similar differences even in GBA games. Again, I'll update tomorrow.

If anyone has either of these games and could test on a real GBA SP (backlit), it would help with the comparisons. Despite the title, I don't remember if this screen is the official Nintendo AGS-101 or an 3rd party replacement (have several of these and did not mark them).

I can't see neither the interlacing on vertical move nor the vibrating/flickering backlight, but maybe its because of the recording but if you see it, then ajusting the potentiometer can help you. (it did for me for the interlacing efect and almost no diference on backlight)

It's not interlacing. I don't know what you'd call it, but here is a comparison video:

http://youtu.be/unzXRGB1TIk

The main thing to notice is that screen scrolling ends up slightly distorting the image. Imagine three rows of pixels: black, white, then black. When the screen scrolls up, the black-white-black rows appear as though we only have two rows of black. That's the best way for me to describe it. A similar difference occurs in the vertical direction when comparing the original GBA screen with a backlit one. I think it is just an inherent property of backlit LCD screens, and not because of any setting.

(Video may still be in the process of rotating)

I think its the same thing on mine, (tested with pokemon yellow and the roof has a efect like that on scrolling)
try sonic advance watch the intro video with robotnick/eggman and if you see that efect it try ajusting the potentiometer
(after ajusting it the effect is almost gone barely see it)

Btw...
is there any alternate soldering point 2? My soldering skills are not to be bragged about.

yes there are 2 confirmed points (the ones on rcg guide)
and some unconfirmed ones at this post http://gbatemp.net/threads/gba-backlight-agb-001.328487/page-19#post-4725361
I ment to reply about those since i tested them when i built my last AGB-001 mod but have been busy, all of the possible alternate points i have found are either mich dimmer or don't light the backlight at all. Also adjusting the potentiometer on the points doesn't seem to have any effect on the screen with the extra points i found either, only the two in the RCG guide seem to be affected.

Now that isn't to say that other possible alternative points are not there than the ones i found, after all i only checked for about an hour at most. Though the odds of the potentiometer actually having a noticeable effect seem slim from what i have tried
