I just recently purchased a second hand DS Lite.
The slot - 2 of the system is corrupted and does not recognise any game boy paks.

I wanted to buy a flash cart for the DS Lite and after digging through the site I found that the DSTWO is probably the best option.

However, if someone can help me with a few queries then I'll really appreciate it.

In a month or so I'm also thinking for purchasing the DSi [or DSi XL]. Will the DSTWO work on that one, too?
If yes, will the same games [and save game file] work also?
Does it run the GBA/SP roms, too?

Since DSTWO is more expensive than other carts, what other options do I have if I'm just looking to play the DS games and the GBA/SP games?

And lastly, which is a reliable site to purchase the flash cart from?

As the DSi/3DS have no Slot-2, the only way to do GBA is via emulation, and the DSTwo's emulation is the best.

Still not perfect, but by far the best.

But I just have DS Lite, not DSi or 3DS.

I see an EXTREMELY cheap R4 here: http://www.eachmall.me/goods-2527.html
This won't be work in the DSi [or DSi XL], right?

BUT, will it work well on the Lite atleast?

Also, is eachmall.me a good, trustable site?

It should work fine but it might not be a real R4. If it isn't, wood won't work on it.

You also talked about moving to the DSi/XL.

That won't work on anything past a Lite (it will work on the Lite), and only with a 2GB MicroSD max. That's why it's so cheap, it's like the oldest DS flash cart model still sold.

As said, that won't work on anything newer than a DS Lite.

I can vouch for eachmall being trustworthy, I buy stuff from them quite often, but they do charge shipping (which adds up quickly). However, that could be somewhat offset by their prices being a little lower to begin with than the competition. You might also consider zhuzhuchina.com, nds-card.com, and realhotstuff.hk. Those are all trustworthy sites as well, nds-card.com being the official sponsor of this very website.

The best on a DS/3DS series system. If his goal is playing GBA on a DSL with a busted cart slot, yeah, DSTWO's the way to go. But if he has a PSP or something he might want to look into emulating on that instead.

Thanks for all the helpful replies.

I have just ordered this : http://nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=141
Ordered from nds-card.com since it seemed more trustable than the others.

Also, the reason that I ordered just an R4 is because I'm completely new to flash carts and also don't have experience ordering from Chinese sites.

Just a couple of queries ::
The card in the link is genuine and capable for wood kernel, right?
Regarding games -- I know that this card is capable of running games only in the DS Lite; but will it play DSi games? Or there is no such thing as DSi games [just DS games?]
I looked at the comparision chart of the DS consoles on wikipedia and saw differences processor, ram etc.
DS games should run flawlessly, but will I be able to load DSi games on the card and run on the DS?

I'm trying to buy one from there myself, do you know how to change the shipping cost? No matter what option I check it wants to charge me $22.91 for HK DHL shipping.

Where, eachmall?

Their checkout page kinda sucks, it doesn't automatically update the total with the shipping cost until the next page (order confirmation). Say I was buying a $1 item and it wanted me to use the $4 shipping by default for example, but the cheaper shipping was $2, it would still show my final total as $5 until I click "proceed to checkout" or whatever it is at which point it shows the right total.

To change it, you go to your cart, then click checkout, and at the bottom of the checkout page you can change the shipping.

May I ask which bank you are with, or type of card you are using? My orders with eachgame/mall never goes through even after calling and confirming with my bank.

TD Bank (USA)/Visa
Capital One (USA)/Visa

Have had both work just fine. TD and Capital One occasionally freeze my card after ordering from them enough times because of how many overseas purchases I make (and they're usually small amounts).

Not sure why it won't go through for you. Usually when I call my bank to get my card unfrozen from that they tell me to wait two hours and it ought to go through, but otherwise... obviously make sure you're putting in your entire name as it appears on the card, exp/security code, etc.
