So, everybody's been talking about GameCube controllers through the USB ports and stuff, and I was starting to wonder about something. I'd probably just use this as an alternative to DIOS MIOS on my Wii. It already has the four GameCube ports already, so wouldn't it work to just plug in a controller through one of those? (Yes, I understand all the USB discussion is for the Wii-U and newer Wii models without the GameCube ports.)

Ok, Wii classic controller pro adaptater from mayflash isn't compatible. :(
I tested it a week or so ago and it worked perfectly fine...

Err, if you can only use GameCube controllers on the Wii version then what about people with the Family Wii?

I have no problem with gamecube ports only, assuming it isn't something stupid where a usb gamecube adapter is required

I just wanted to be able to remap my controls without having to own a Wii U. Midway Arcade Treasures 3 forces the use of R and L for gas & brake and yet in the game itself they're only digital gas & brake.

Now that you mention it, my L and R buttons tend to stick ever since my kids dropped my wavebird in the freaking sewer (true story ... surprised the thing still even works.)
I would LOVE to be able to map those babies to some other buttons ... but alas ...

Yup that's the adapter, but I tested on a launch Wii not a Wii U if that makes any difference. Also the port you use may make a difference - with the adapter's text facing up I used the RIGHT port, which is actually the 1st player connector - if you look at the ports you'll notice that they're upside-down vs how they're oriented on a wiimote.

I tried every ports, so I don't think that's the problem, I'll try later with the first version of HID and tell here what I get.
Anyway, did you send your results with this adaptater to crediar ?

It didn't work with the first version but it did work with either the second or third version (can't remember).

As for my results, no, but that was mainly because I was still paranoid at that point whether control customization would be implemented, but now I don't have to worry about that.

But, can i use an adapter MagicJoyBox 3x1 in my Family Wii which lacks GC ports?

From what crediar has said, no. He has explicitly stated that the only supported control system on the Wii will be GC controllers (by which I am certain he means via the in-built GC controller ports on older Wii consoles; if he meant via a USB adapter, it would take very little extra code to support other USB HID controllers, and the code that was required would all be present in the vWii version so could very easily be ported across, therefore there would be no good reason not to support USB HID controllers if this was what he meant)

Crap, that is the only feature that I needed from this project. I accidentally bought that f*cking Family Edition Wii, and cannot use Dios Mios. I don't know why not to include it also in normal Wii version. I asked crediar about it on twitter, waiting for response...

Lack of resources I assume. The ability to access extra resources in vWii has been discussed and confirmed, but Wii's still under the same limits it's always been under.
Hasn't stopped Devolution which has super-preliminary USB keyboard and mouse support. (I myself have never gotten it to work though)

"X's author did it so Y's will too"? not everybody does things the same way or enjoys coding on low resources. This might just have additional patches or something that would take up the few spare resources.
