Here is another update:
v1.02
- fixed a small patch error in the EURv2 .ppf
- Added Base ISO Version Autodetect ability
- Added option for user to choose Save "Slot" instead of being always custom
- Improved .bat UI menus a bit, inc. Title Screen and Option Review Menu
- Added a check for the NewerSMBW contents folder

Code:
Unnofficial Automatic ISO Builder Pack v1.02 for Newer SMBW
Pack built by damysteryman/Team DARK

Thanks to Treeki for info on NSMBW dol patching and ISO building
Thanks to Wiimm and Hoowahman for Batch file info and assistance
Credits also to Wiimm for WIT, included in this pack
Credits to Icarus of Paradox for ApplyPPF3, included in this pack
Also thanks to everybody who provided .dol versions I did not have

This will combine an ISO copy of New Super Mario Bros.
Wii and NewerTeam's Riivolution-style Newer package to build an
ISO version of Newer.

Should work with All EUR and USA versions, and JPN v1 version.
(Currently only tested with EURv2 at this time)

HOWTO:
1. Extract contents of this .zip file to a new working directory.
Get your ISO of NSMBW, and copy it to the same directory as
this README file.
2. Copy the "NewerSMBW" folder from the NewerSMBW.zip package to the same
directory as this README (you can download Newer from
http://newerteam.com if you have not done so already already)
3. Run Build_Newer.bat, follow its prompt sand wait for it to build
the Newer ISO.
4. Use/run the newly built ISO however way you would :P
5. Enjoy!

Generated Newer ISO has Header GameID of SMNx03, and there is also an option
to change the tmd/ticket ID of KMNx to keep savegame seperate from the
original game's one.

Changelog:

v1.02
- fixed a small patch error in the EURv2 .ppf
- Added Base ISO Version Autodetect ability
- Added option for user to choose Save "Slot" instead of being always custom
- Improved .bat UI menus a bit, inc. Title Screen and Option Review Menu
- Added a check for the NewerSMBW contents folder

v1.011
- Fixed typo in .bat causing Titlescreen logo not to be replaced on
non-EUR versions

v1.01
- Renamed it from Patcher to Builder
- Added support for EUR, USA, and JAPv1
- No longer requires ISO to be an exact name
- Added ability to select output format from either iso or wbfs
- Changed generated ISO's GameID from SMNx02 to SMNx03 to avoid conflict with
another existing Custom NSMBW
- Fixed an error which would cause German and Dutch versions to break

v1.00
- Initial release

I'm having a problem with the the WBFS version I made with your tool, damysteryman.
USA v1
It works fine with WiiFlow. Boots back to Wii Menu on USB Loader GX, and corrupted CFG Loader. Wiiflow was the only one that wasn't on the latest update and I mainly use GX. Any clue as to what happened?

Wow, that is certainly weird... none of that makes any sense at all... my EURv1 version works fine via GX... and if the ISO is broken it would usually blackscreen or freeze at healthscreen, not return to Wii Menu...

Maybe try outputting as .iso then use a backup manager to transfer it over to your HDD?
Or perhaps use the newly-updated version with ISO Version Autodetect ?

Extract your iso first using Wiibackupmanager, patch your iso, copy the genrated ios to your hdd using Wiibackupmanager.
No problems here.

Ok, I don't know why, but my Dolphin won't run the game when it's in iso format, weird.
So I tested the patch with a PAL SMBW v1 and v2, and both worked without trouble as wbfs on Dolphin and USB Loader.
Great work!

Anyone know why my cover and disc images are not showing up? I named all the file SMNE03 and put them in the appropriate image dir(s) on the SD card.

Thanks DMM, ripping my original USAv1 disc and using your patch worked perfectly. Well, on the Wii it did. The newest Dolphin build doesn't work with it, but I think earlier in this topic someone mentioned only .wbfs working, not .iso.

Are you still going to make a patch for Another? Please do, the files linked earlier don't modify the .dol, so it ends up missing the small fixes included in the Riivolution xml.

Patcher v 1.02, my iso is USA v.1, played up till level 1-6, went up for the second star coin, where all the piraña plants are, jump back down to the water part, code dump, said to take a picture and sent to the newer team. Should have taken a few pics, has anyone else had this happen yet?

Hi, I played this last night and when I booted it up this morning my save was gone. Anyone else have this problem? I just downloaded it for the newer site yesterday and the game is saying its version 1.0

I also have saved game from another smb wii, could this be causing the issue?

  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
  • DinohScene @ DinohScene:
    run h2testw on it

  • DinohScene @ DinohScene:
when SD cards/microSD write speeds drop below a meg a sec, they're usually on the verge of dying

Samsung SD format can sometimes fix them too
  • Purple_Heart @ Purple_Heart:
yes looks like an faulty sd
  • Purple_Heart @ Purple_Heart:
@Psionic Roshambo i may try that with my dead sd cards

@The Real Jdbye, I considered that, but i'll have to wait until i can get the eu version in the mail lol
