1.
I just got some composite video cables for my PSP. These are working great for PSone games but when playing PSP games or emulators only a tiny screen is displayed...I am sure you guys know what I am talking about. I was googling and seen their are expensive converter boxes that will fix the issue and display fullscreen but also saw some mention of a custom firmware method of scaling the output to display a larger image. Can someone point me to some info on how to do this? Does it work well?

2.
I also saw at one point that I could hook up my PS3 controller through USB to play, but when looking for that info again now I am having trouble finding it (everytime I search I just find stuff on the PSP Go doing this through bluetooth). I bought a cable that will let me plug the regular PS3 USB cable in to my PSP and I should get it today....am I going to be able to get my PS3 controller to work?

3.
I am having trouble ripping my NFL Gameday 99 PSone game because it has multiple tracks or something...it lets you play the music as CD audio I guess. I would like to play this on my PSP so what is the easiest way to rip the game? Should I just try to find an ISO download somewhere?

4.
The last thing is regarding a dead pixel (mainly noticeable on black screens as a little white dot). I bought my PSP new a few weeks ago and installed custom firmware....will Sony fix it because of a dead pixel? Will the custom firmware be detectable and make them refuse to? Should I just take it back to the store and exchange it for a new one?

I am pretty new to PSP but am really liking it so far. It is the best way I have found to play PSone backups, I have tons of issues trying to run emulation on my Win7 PC and only have gotten a couple of games to work while pretty much everything works on the PSP.

1 - FuSa is the CFW plugin, and it's hit-or-miss.

2 - Only the Go has bluetooth, none of the older models do.

3 - How are you trying to rip it now?

4 - You can uninstall the CFW (run the installer and it'll show an uninstaller option) and it should leave it mostly-clean, it's not like they'll run over it bit-by-bit when looking at a screen defect.

1. Cool, I will give it a try.

2. My PC doesn't have bluetooth either but I can use my DS3 by plugging in the USB cord (or adding a Bluetooth dongle)

3. Using imageburn to create an iso.

4. Thanks, is dead or stuck pixels common or something that should be acceptable on new models at this point? I seen conflicting views here where someone stated they used to be but that the manufacturing process has improved to where a small screen like the PSP should not have this issue.

The PSP doesn't have USB OTG or whatever support for dongles or hosting devices.

Dunno' about the pixel policy.

Well that is disappointing. I have really been enjoying playing some PSone games on my psp and the controls are the biggest limiting factor so far. I did read you can do something connecting the controller and the PSP to a computer and playing on monitor.

I have not had much luck with espxe on my computer. I was able to run 1 or 2 games out of the 4 or 5 I tried, but those same games converted to eboot and play great on the PSP (I did experience some avoidable freezes while playing Tomb Raider).

I had several of my original PSone games stolen and am trying to figure out the best way to play PSone backups.

I guess playstation one consoles are dirt cheap but I wouldn't know how to get those to play backups.

Emulation hasn't worked well for me.

My softmodded PS2 does not seem to have a simple solution (not really wanting to do disc swapping and DRE is so common).

What control problems have you run into? Control Scheme Type 4 is my go to set up and it's generally fine.

As for dead pixels, if it's a couple of weeks old or thereabouts i'd suggest just going back to the place you bought it from and asking to exchange the console for another. Generally speaking they're within their rights to laugh in your face but most places will acquiesce and allow an exchange.

Well games that make use of all 4 shoulder buttons, R3 or L3, or Analog sticks are kind of difficult to play.

I will probably see if one of those special videos can fix the pixel first and then try and exchange it if not.

If you can name any game that you've tried that's diminished by lack of R3/L3 support then i'd be flabbergasted (and soley by that...games like Ape Escape are rendered ruined by more than that...). The stick press buttons weren't widely adopted (or even rarely adopted) until the PS2. If you're not on a Go then Control Scheme 4 generally gives easy access to all the shoulder buttons.

As for the Pixel Fixers...don't bother as the only decent one was a 1.50 homebrew. The rest are just as likely to generate more stuck pixels as fix them.

That is because PSP games render at 272p and no TV sold in the world supports 272p. To deal with that without slowdown in gaming Sony wraps 272p in 480p, hence black border/tiny screen. One way is to use expensive upscaler like you pointed out (but those will often distort the video). While FusaSD that Rydia have pointed out only works on 6.39 CFW ME and does NOT work 100% (most game will have glitches or slowdown).

You can use Remotejoylite and Motionjoy.

Try to rip that PS1 disc using software such as CloneCD or Alcohol 120% that can defeat copyright protection.

Any softmod will void warranty. You can try your luck to see if Sony will refuse to honor the warranty.

I am going to try Fusa, I have found this version 29_FuSa_SD_v1.0.50

Also I have been running in to some issues with PSx games randomly freezing. What steps should I take to trouble shoot these issues? I think I was reading you can try different versions of popsloader, how do you do that? I just followed the guide on this forum to hack it so do I already have the ability to change the version or do I have to install a plug in or something?
