So I just bought a 3000 online. I'm not necessarily new to PSP hacking, but I've been out of the loop for a few years.

Main question though. Is the ONLY difference between the 6.20 and 6.60 hacks the fact that the former is permanent and the latter is not? They both have the same game compatibility and all?

Yes. In fact 6.20 is temp by default as well (to make it perm you install a patch), and 6.60 has a perm version as well (that only works on the 1K and early 2K models).

Thanks a lot. Man things have changed since the last time I was in the scene and was pretty much dependent on a Pandora battery. The lack of brick recovery sucks, but from what I've seen, you'd have to be doing something really stupid to brick your system nowadays.

EDIT: I actually put the games in a sub folder and not in the root. Everything works now. thanks again for the guide!

Hey. thanks for the guide. But i have problems playing my backups.
I have a PSP 3000. I downgraded from 6.60 to 6.20.
Then i did everything you said to do. I assume i did everything right because my system software says : "6.20 PRO- C2"
I then put my backups into a folder i made called "ISO" in the root of the official sony memory card.
However, when i go to my PSP screen and scroll over to Game- Memory stick, only the files such as " 62 PRO-c Permanent patch", "fast recovery" and "pro update" appear. None of my backups are there.

The backups are in ISO format

Thanks.

how do i "run 6.60 pro updater" !?

lmao. how do i access memory card via psp? iv got the file on there but you just say "run" it and dont explain how

Just bought a new PSP3001, and I'm looking to softmod it but I'm trying to be really cautious about because I paranoid about bricking it lol >,>. It started on v6.39 firmware, so is it possible to downgrade to 6.20 since I've never had anything lower than 6.39 on the system before? Just wondering cause I'd rather the permanant patch if I can and I can't the 6.60 PRO permanent version on a 3000 model right?

If you don't want to risk a brick, don't try downgrading it and just use the temp CFW (which has all the same features except the PSP doesn't boot hacked automatically).

Just to make sure, that's the "6.60 PRO (temporary or permanent) installation" spoiler tag on the first page? Not really sure what CFW is lol.

Yes. Just update to 6.60 OFW and then follow Rydian's instructions about running the temporary PRO firmware.

Having an issue here with a PSP 1000 with OFW 6.60.
The buttons always stop working right after a CFW PRO-C install.
The only way to unfreeze it is by doing a hard shutdown so it can return to
OFW where the buttons works normally.

I have no plugins installed at all and even renamed seplugins just in case but right now noticed that if you soft restart/wake from sleep mode while holding the R shoulder button the controls work until you let of of it. Games also boot and work correctly but home doesn't let me choose quit.

Here's a screenshot of the memory stick root.

Yep, it's an authentic 8GB SanDisk Produo with MagicGate support.
Even the PSP says it's MagicGate Supported.
It used to be on 5.00 m33-6 and didn't have this problem.
So could all these issues be caused by a bad flash upgrade?

Already tried uninstalling and reinstalling.
Is it considered safe to downgrade to OFW 5.00 with chrono downgrader then to CFW 5.00 m33-6 with hellcat's flash recovery?
