I am trying to understand this Nand/emuNand/Virtual Console/gamesave/Wiiware stuff. I got my Wii and Gamecube stuff working fine.
I currently have an emunand on my hard drive and I can see all the channels from there in USB Loader GX, but I don't think everything works.
I have:
SuperMario 64
Ocarina of Time
SMB3
Ninja Gaiden
Castlevania 3
The Legend of Zelda
Super Smash Bros.
Castlevania Adventure Rebirth
With regular Nand I can move and launch from SD card but it takes awhile to launch (copying to NAND or what I am not sure)
I have heard things regarding Triiforce/Mighty Channels/SNEEK/UNEEK + Di/joyflow and I am trying to make sense of it all.
It seems my current setup lacks some compatibility and still has memory limitations on emuNand size. What are my options and what are the benefits and drawbacks?
What method is easiest to transfer newly purchased titles to the emunand? Do I have to redump the Nand to do this?
First off, I'm not clear with what you mean with "I don't think everything works" with GX and emuNAND. What kind of problems do you get when you try to run them?
Yes, running it from the SD the normal way copies it to NAND to run it (to a temp folder on NAND IIRC) and that's why right after running one that way you have so many fewer blocks available in data management.
to explain a few terms, mighty channels is like triiforce GX. It's Triiforce with pictures. Both are kinda old. They were apps to open the channels directly off of the emuNAND. USB Loader GX, like other USB Loaders that can use emuNAND use a D2X cIOS to to do basically the same thing. SNEEK and UNEEK basically run the system menu off of the emuNAND and then you can have the system menu run the channels. SNEEK has the emuNAND on SD and UNEEK has emuNAND on USB. When they have the +DI at the end it just means that they are loading Wii disk games off of USB instead of the real disk in the drive. Joyflow is a version of WiiFlow meant to run while SNEEK or UNEEK are running but now normal WiiFlow can do that, too, so they've kinda been joined into the same thing.
to transfer newly purchased stuff, what I do ...
1. If it's on SD, transfer it to real NAND
2. If you don't have it already, get WiiMod from ModMii
3. HBC -> WiiMod -> Advanced -> AnyTitle manager -> pack into WAD
4. USB Loader GX -> settings -> features -> install WAD to emuNAND
Now that I think of it, it may be possible to just run UNEEK, go to data management and transfer from the SD card to NAND but I've never tried that before.
