I have a big problem: One of my favorite GameCube Games, Mario Party 4 (which I still play often and has no problem running on my Wii) gives a "Disc Read Error" when I try to install it in USB Loader GX. It does have a scratches in the back from having been used so much so I guess that is the cause.

I might have better luck ripping it with my computer, but the old discs I ripped and converted with FSTFIX.exe and DiscEX-v0.8 don't work right (they just show a black screen on load) so I am left assuming that there is another bit of software I need.

My big question is this: Would guides like this still work, or is there some new process I need to follow?

I tried putting my backup ISO through "Gamecube ISO Compress" instead to create the folder new and when I load the game I still get the black screen after the "DIOS MIOS" gamecube screen. I then went looking to find a download of it (which is OK since I do own the disc) and did the same and I also get the black screen.

Can someone tell me the process that would work? I really need to know how to get a game ISO converted to run properly.

what game as it may not work at all

I had the problem with two games. "Mario Party 4" and "Soul Caliber 2". Most of my other games ripped just fine directly to the Wii (I haven't tested them all yet), but these two were too scratched from repeated use to rip. I ended up doing a test to see if maybe I was doing it wrong and so I removed the folder for one of my other games "Simpson's Road Rage" and I was able to manually rip the Simpson's game no problem via this method, so tried it again with "Game Cube ISO Compress" and somehow Mario Party 4 worked perfectly so no problem there, but with "Soul Caliber 2" the only improvement is that after the DIOS MIOS screen there is a sudden green flicker and then just black. I even waited 15 minutes to see if it was a loading issue or something, but it didn't work.

I am curious if maybe it's a game that can't handle compression or something? I noticed that when I installed "Tales of Symphonia" the system told me that it requires compression to be turned off to work right so went and turned off compression before ripping those two (I ripped 2 before 1) and curiously it looks like the system combines those discs which solved my wondering if there would be any problems with multi-disc games, but the whole warning has me wondering what would have happened if I had to manually do those two or if other games just have problem through compression. Is there maybe another tool I can use that doesn't compress them at all to see if it works?

Or is "Soul Caliber 2" one of those games that doesn't work yet? Is there a list of games that don't yet work and why?

I also had a problem with "Zelda Wind Waker" from my backup (which I made when DIOS MIOS was in early beta), but since my disc has no scratches I am ripping it now and will soon see if it runs. (It's my only foreign disc. Had it mailed from Scotland) I also haven't tested "Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem" which I understand to be on the list of "Streaming Audio" which would produce no sound in WODE so I am curious if it will produce sound or not.

EDIT:

Amazingly, "Eternal Darkness" works perfectly. Even though it's a streaming audio game it works perfectly! How did they manage that when a hard mod couldn't?

As for "The Legend of Zelda the Wind Waker for PAL" after I deleted the folder I reinstalled it this time through the Wii itself. When it completed I looked for it on the list, but it doesn't show up. Not as a picture, or even included as part of the "number" on the bottom. I go to install it again, but it tells me it is already installed. I don't understand it.

Anyway, that leaves a total of two games I can't get to work right. Zelda won't show that it installed, but is somehow there (is it because it is PAL?) and Soul Calibur 2 shows up but doesn't work.

EDIT 2:

I was able to find a compatibility list and it looks like "Zelda the Wind Waker" and "Soul Calibur II" is supposed to have no issues, but I do.

Also, "Eternal Darkness" has no issues for me. All music and audio works, but the list says it doesn't. Is there a way for me to tell which DML release version I am using? Because I could update the list and show that it works now.

Ok, everything works now. Turns out the reason "Soul Caliber 2" wasn't working was because my backup ISO was corrupt (or maybe a bad rip to begin with). When I finally decided to download a replacement file it worked perfectly. Same thing with the "Mario Party 4" disc. And the "Wind Waker" was only a problem because of a corrupt file or two in "USB Loader GX" and installed correctly from the original disc without problems after.

So really the only problems were on my end... still, I wonder why USB Loader GX can't detect a bad disc.

Elliander, do you have a Jedi outcast around to try the streaming audio?

I just installed DiosMios in my wii for the first time, and i really did that only so i could play Jedi Outcast.... and Rogue Squadron
.

Sorry for the delayed response. I had to borrow a disc from a friend to test it out.

Yes, all audio works perfectly for "Jedi Outcast" , however mine is a USA copy and the compatibility list says there are issues with the European copy still. Also, I found an issue with the USA copy where it thinks it doesn't have enough space to create a save file under NMM. You should have no problems using a gamecube memory card though and when I have the time I will test to see if it will work by transferring an existing save manually to a folder.
