USB Loader/nintendont says disc cover is open while running an official gba disc.

I bought a lot that had some gamecube games for fairly cheap under the impression they were already going to be scratched to hell, and was partially right. they are scratched a decent bit and say game cannot be read when trying to load them normally. I tried to load them with nintendont through usb loader gx and now it’s giving me an error saying the disc cover is open.
