Hey Guys,

I did some investigation on my Wii U Pal (i also receive Monster Hunter Wii U Jap) it's more for testing purpose, so i maybe find a way to launch the NTSC-J/US games on Wii U Pal... the Wii U just read a specific part on the CD to check which region are on it but this lock are pretty useless when you use a switch CD under the Wii U Menu, you can try yourself (3 method and one software version that i work on it)

First method :

1- Insert a Pal Game on Wii U
2- Launch the Pal Game
3- Eject the Pal Game during the first sequence of boot (when you see the wii U logo blinking on the left hight corner)
4- the Wii U Boot is locked to the Pal Game Sequence
5- Insert a NTSC Game Wii U
6- The NTSC should boot after few seconds

Second Method :

You need to Open the Wii U

1- So Open the Wii U
2- Insert a Pal Game (wait for while the time is loaded under the wii U menu)
3- Take of the Pal Game CD and insert fast the NTSC game
4- Launch the Game and it should load the NTSC Game

Third Method (Software part)

I'm working on a software part (i find a exploit on the Wii U that can load some specific stuff) it's too early to talk about a full support exploit on the Wii U but i'm working on it.

I'm only interested by unlocking the region of the Wii U and also unlock the stupid Gamepad Wii U lock.

You found an exploit on the Wii U?? Nice!
Well this exploit use a Epic HTML5 fail that can give a good access to the Wii U but it's not totaly exploitable yet, need to talk with a friend that have better knowledge than me on that type of exploit.

Can someone try this? I really don't think that it is this simple (although that was an entirely different story with the PS2). I would try it myself but I don't have any different region games.

Actually it works, the fact is that, when you insert another region game, the Wii U Game load the game but after while it say this game it's from another region under the Wii U menu... that all...
You want to try something, take 2 different pal game, launch the game and eject after the Wii U logo blinking and put another game, it would also crash the Wii U after while ;)

The Wii U doesn't act like the PS3/XBOX360 or Wii... when you follow the process i said, it doesn't ask you to insert the CD at all... and when you insert another game (it load the game or it crash) depending the execution time... so it's a Nintendo fail in here

Reminds of the old PSX Swap Trick, lol. Unfortunately can't test this since I only have domestic games :(

Nonetheless, if this works for all games, cool find !

Yes it's exactly what i was thinking but this Swap Trick work differently in here because it can crash the Wii U or can load the game... depending of the time process...
so if you do that on the Wii U (the first method not the second) it crash the Wii U or load the game... but it's important to do it like i said... during the first sequence boot... i mean after pressing the logo of the game on the wii U menu it goes fullscreen and the Wii U logo blink on the left top corner, at this moment you do that not after the game load :)

Well this is great news! Now im just suprised about how much of a fail Nintendo has been with the Wii U security after the success of locking down the 3DS security. I would have thought that Nintendo would have got some good pointers from the 3DS, lol.

So just to make sure, this only allows you to play different region games for a certain amount of time before the system realizes?

Ok let me explain... the Player of the Wii U scan the header (you can see it on the small circle around the CD) but it doesn't go back on it after booting the game... it only read it one time to know which region is it... that all, it's the only secure on the Wii U/Player aboot the region boot.

Oh Ok, just reading the other posts made me think it crashed after a while. I just got it mixed up with the timing part. Anyway, thanks for the info because now I can import Japanese games without needing a hack/loader to run them!

I tried switching discs (two pal discs) with method 1 (pressing eject button)

Swap while the disc says "there's an update, launch without updating? reply yes then it display Error 199-9999. shutdown the console"
swap while the logo is still on screen: Error detected, returning to WiiU menu
swap while the logo disapear: doesn't do anything, waiting for correct game disc. From here, two possibilities:

1. swap back to correct disc and the game continue loading
2. eject the wrong game: I got error 1-0001 screen.

all the tests I did was unsuccessful.
