I found it awesome you could finally play gamecube games on the wii through an SD card, I tested out with a 2GB Kodak FAT formatted card...the one that's always been inside the Wii. I decided since it was working I should get another one with more capacity, so I went and bought a 16GB Transcend SDHC card FAT32...

I copied ALL the content inside the Kodak and pasted it in the Transcend...when loading USB Loader GX, you can see the gamecube games...but when pressing "Start" I get the "Fatal error apploader size is zero" message...I don't understand why, does it not accept that kind of cards? what good is it to use a 2GB card if it can hold 1 game at most? please help...I'm using DIOS MIOS Lite 2.6 and USB Loader GX 3.0r1204...

Did you change anything on the actual Wii from playing it before? I believe the Fatal Error can be a few things. It's important to know if the console was modified from having it work on the 2GB? Does it still work if you try it on the 2GB SD card?

Here is what the FAQ suggests for it:
  • Verify that your dump is ok, just google for the md5 hash.
  • Try to install the game again (delete the old folder before)
  • Your loader is using an incorrect config version

as Sly 3 4 me said it can be many things, one reason i once got this error was not mentioned on FAQ

  • no disc patch selected, but you actually have a disc in drive.

I haven't changed anything on the Wii ever since I installed DIOS MIOS and the latest USB Loader GX, and yes, the 2GB card works for whatever reason meanwhile the 16GB does not...as for the suggestions

1- Sorry...but I need to know what this md5 hash is and does, never heard of it.
2- I tried a varierty of ISOs on the 2GB SD card, they all work, the problem is they won't run from the 16GB...
3- So the settings are configured incorrectly? if so i'm open to suggestions...

If it works on the 2GB SD card...I think the hack is incompatible with 16GB SDHC cards...all I can do is view the ISOs stored, not play them...hopefully this can be fixed, I bought it merely for this, how am I supposed to take it back when I've broken the product's seal?

It is compatible with sdhc cards but from the looks of it, not with yours. i remember reading that dios mios lite version r59 (realy old version considering latest versions) was the one with the best compatibility and any version that came after that had a "limited" compatibility.

Correct me if im wrong

Well that much I already figured out...this thing just won't work, so anyone out there using DIOS MIOS Lite 2.6 can you tell me what brand, capacity and class your SDHC card is?

I did...countless times

Do you have Dios Mios Lite 2.6? Does your USB loader find Wii games on your SD card?

Try using WiiFlow, and be sure to click the GameCube button in the bottom right corner when you start it for the first time. Then enter the settings and make sure the Game path is set to "SD".

I don't think the loader matters, it's giving me the same error on WiiFlow...figures the Wii would suck at compatibility even when we're talking about mods.

It did matter for me, but that was on Dios Mios 2.5.

EDIT: Did you create a folder named "games" on the SD card? Did you use DMToolbox 0.3 to install the games in that folder?

Yep, the games folder is there, and I used DMLizard to optimize the ISOs...proof of it, is it detects them, as for DMToolbox, no I have never used that.

Is there a way I can load games from my hard drive instead?...

Yes, there is in fact a way to load the games from your hard drive instead. Install Dios Mios 2.6 (Not LITE, just Dios Mios).

There are two different versions you see: Lite is for SD and just Dios Mios is for hard drives. It follows the exact same principle: Make a "games" folder on your USB harddrive and install them as usual in that folder. I recommend trying DMToolbox 0.3 to install them.

only exception is that DIOS MIOS requires to things:
- 32k cluster size or less (64k is not working)
- The FAT32 partition must be the first on the HDD, in primary and active.

DIOS MIOS also has device compatibility problem, so expect some problems like "wii shutting down", "error message on splashscreen" and "black screen before splashscreen".
in all these 3 cases, just try again.

Try the 32k rather than the 64k as Cyan mentioned. Is that what you had it on first before you said you tried 64k? A post on Wiihacks showed that someone was using the exact same card and had it working, although his trouble was not the same as yours, just some basic stuff. I'd say there's a likely chance there's just something small being missed or else the version somehow made the compatibility worse for your card? At the time of that post when the guy had it working, it was 6/20, so perhaps that could be the cause. It looks like he was apparently using version 1.4. I'm not saying this is the solution, but if what he says was true for the person, then I don't see why it wouldn't be worth a try.

Downgrading to an old dios mios version? I'd rather try the hard drive first...it's so much trouble. I install it using ios249 right?

and now using the hard drive I get: Fatal error app_main: dst not in MEM1

From Dios Mios FAQ:

"I get "Fatal error app_main:dst not in MEM1!"

GCLoader got incorrect data when reading from the ISO
  • Verify that your HDD is using 32KB cluster size or less, this error can happen with 64KB cluster size.
  • Verify that your dump is ok, just google for the md5 hash.
  • Try to install the game again (delete the old folder before)"
