Hacking Good video player for psp?

1. NO I don't want to convert video's to another format. I don't want to go through that effort + dont have the discspace to convert thousands of episodes (I has a lot of animes )

2. I tested on the 3ds with supercard DStwo and the Iplayer. it seems to be working fine, just 480p though.. Not sure on external subs or subs which need be put on cuz they off @ default. Not sure on dualaudio either if u can switch.

3. I looked but I only found psptube and other bullshit tutorials about converting. Are you kidding me are there no apps for the psp to play movies? This when the psp can play umd movies and is WAY more powerfull and easy to hack then DS..

Or have I missed something?

converting the video is the BEST way to watch them on the PSP

the psp is very picky about the videos it can plays

even with homwbrew like pmplayer advance

Can you imagine the time it would take to convery hundreds of episodes with possibly mutiple sub or audio in them zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Well I could play all the 480p anime on my 3ds so I figured psp could do the same.

IF only there was a nifty way to convert all anime perfectly without having to lift a finger.

batch converting?

i wanted to watch animes on the psp before to. but then i need to convert 720p. so i just watched them on the pc. worked better.

No, you could play them on the DSTwo and the iPlayer. If you had an ordinary flashcart, you would also be forced to convert to a specific format, .DPG in the case of the DS.

You will *always* get the best video outout if you convert your files to the native resolution of the platform, and needless to say, the PSP is tons better at playing video than the DS. Just use a batch converter, it's not going to hurt you.

Oh, and just so you know, you weren't watching those videos at 480p (or whatever native resolution they had) - the cart has to downscale them to fit the screen in DS-Mode, meaning to 256x192. You can't jump over hardware limitations, I'm afraid. The PSP has a 480x272 screen, of course it's going to be "better" for watching movies.

ohh ok. Well the quality is good enough for me! I just like watching up close sometime in bed. or when im out.

batch converter... like? I don't think it'll be able to handle anime that has dual/ tri audio/ dual/ tri subs and automatically pick jap audio eng sub..

I'd want my dbz (tri audio), naruto, one piece, bleach and so on converted in 1 job. which I assume is impossible. Also some are 720p where most is 480p.

I use Xilisoft's converter and it does the job just fine, but I'm sure there's a lot of other converters that do exactly what you want them to.

    • Sampling Frequency
    • Bitrate

If any of those parts is "out of bounds" for a specific player, then the video file won't play on the player (or will play with a lot of issues if you try to use it in a video editor), even if it's of the correct container type. When you use a converter for a specific platform (such as for the PSP or DS or ipod) or to a specific format, it doesn't convert just the container, it formats every part of the video to certain specifications so it'll play properly.

That's why you need to convert in the vast majority of cases (outside of android devices which are relatively powerful for handhelds).

i use the video playback built into the firmware. i haven't found a need for anything else. but i am also curious if there is something better out there.
