Hacking CFW 4.21

I've seen a lot of youtube videos and sites advertising that this is out. Is it safe to upgrade from 3.55 now?

What do you mean by "this"? It's hard to assess something that you can't see.

As far as I know, CFW isn't available on 4.21 yet - perhaps you mean DEX firmware?

Apparently there are a couple possible lv2 exploits for 4.20, but no CFW.

4.20 CFW was in the making, however mid-way through preparations, Sony released the 4.21 update, so coders just jumped onto the next one rather than waste time.

They'll get there, for now, just use patches or DEX.

No there was rumors from a Chinese team as they had DOA5 playing through multiman, nobody was sure if it was 4.21CFW or just a patch due to bad translation. Turns out it was a TrueBlue Dongle Clone that was being developed by the said Chinese team. There is no CFW, there is a few Lv2 exploits, hence all the 3.55/4.21 patches available but they are no-where near Lv0 exploits and thats what they need to figure out in order to exploit the firmware and sign custom PKG files like you can do with 3.55

According to deank, the rumored firmware will not require any dongle of any sort.

There are a lot of rumors regarding 4.21 CFW in the last few days. First there is the Red Power/Blue DIsk ream who apparently is going to release a dongle that will allow 4.21 CFW installation and PSP backup loader.
Then there was a image of a member of Team Rebug making a git of 4.21 CFW which he took down quickly after it was discovered.

Anyway, don't trust any CFW video you see on Youtube. They are all fakes. If and when there is a 4.21 CFW, it will be posted in all ps3 hacking sites.

Im not saying thats what is going to be coming out from deank, im just saying thats the latest rumor to be going around in regards to a working 4.21CFW and it was because of DOA5 was being played on their dongle

Rumor has it that you will need 3.55 in order to install this 4.21 CFW so its not that big of a deal. Not what everyone is waiting for...

Yes, 4.21 CFW is real.

Yes, you must be on 3.55 or earlier to flash to this new CFW at this time. Yes, they're working out how to make it flashable from any PS3 that was on 3.56 and up. From what I've read, it has to do with the additional checks added since 3.56 that are the problem now.

Yes, the LV0 keys for 4.21 were found, which is why this is possible. The reason they were leaked was because the True Blue dongle team tried to re-DRM the new CFW under the 'Bluedisk' brand.

Yes, this is new stuff, so there is inherently a risk for bricking. If you're worried (like I am), give it time, or let those who are willing to guinea-pig similar models to yours test first. It also helps if you have a hardware flasher readily available to quickly recover from said bricks. Though, to my understanding, Rogero's 4.21 is still compatible with a USB-JIG made for 3.55... so that's something worth considering.

Yes, I'm still hoping someone also reverse engineers the Cobra USB or at least finds a way to allow its functionality with a pkg or something. Still waiting here...

well CFW 4.30 is real but you have to update from 3.55 cfw currently to do so

im sure other options will come out sooner or later now

I heard that some 2000 or so PS3s got bricked by the "leaked" CFW version, however I've also heard they are recoverable of you have the hardware (E3 flasher I think).
