Hello all,

I'm looking for some suggestions towards an HDTV. If people can pinpoint an exact model or brand for me to lean towards that would be greatly appreciated!!! ^_^
Price is something I'd debate on my own so please don't worry about that lol

As a last note, I'm looking for something with an amazing experience. The best way I can really explain is a time I walked into Best Buy a year ago and had seen the X2 blu-ray being played on multiple TV's. Most of them looked just okay but there were a select few where this movie looked absolutely amazing to a point of near jaw drop!
I'm not sure anyone else has had a point like that but I figured I'd fit that in just in-case and if it may help....

Thanks in advance for any possible help!!

What are you looking for in a TV?

Hard to really say... In terms of size, 40-60 inches sounds good. Quality and performance wise, I'm looking for a TV with a great HD and blu -ray video experience for myself and everyone too ooh and ahhh at in the front room.

The example I provided above sounds pretty lulzy but that's the best I can really do to describe what I'm looking for in a TV. That video looked simply okay on many of their televisions but there were a select few that made me seriously feel like I was experiencing the greatest thing ever.

When it comes to televisions, I really know little to nothing on the brand or model to follow along with.... All I can really say is that I'm looking for the best or at least close to it for a great entertainment setup in the living room.

Sorry if I sound super vague.

Sony Bravia TVs are really good for the price and size, that's what my parents have and it's been great.
I'll definitely look into it, being the first suggestion. I've come across the name before but just didn't know which brands to trust at the time and went for the cheapest....

There's a 40" Vizio non-smart LCD TV, I don't remember the exact model... don't get it, I've seen the model have the exact same issue (video playback skips) on multiple different sets.
Thanks for the input. Vizio is officially scratched off my list!

I can reccomend the panasonic led line of tv's.
Agreed some a bit steep in price, but the picture is mint for movie and hd game viewing.

Well I wouldn't necessarily say to scratch Vizio off of your list as a whole. I've had nothing but good experiences with Vizio TVs, as have my friends. I only know of that one model because I work electronics at Target so I see it every damned day. The smart model, which is like $50 more, is absolutely fine. As is every other one that I've seen by them.

I'd recommend you stay away from the cheap-o shit brands - Westinghouse, Element, Apex, Polaroid, and Sylvania are ones I personally would avoid like the plague.

Are you also looking into speakers? Good ones usually improve the experiences by a mile.

I have an LG 1080p LED TV and the picture quality is excellent. However, although the sound is clear the bass is a little feeble so I use a separate speaker system.

In my experience, you can't go wrong with Samsung.

This, Samsung make awesome panels for the price and have a spiffy interface. They do have a habit of putting speakers on the rear of the screen which is annoying (especially in a bedroom setup if you need to keep it down for other people around the house at night).

I'd recommend you try a site like Cnet. You can find reviews, comparisons, price ranges, user comments, etc. about any TV that strikes your fancy.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. It's funny that Samsung was mentioned.... I just came back from a Sam's Club with one on display and it definitely stood out against the others there. Speakers I'm not so worried about.

Sound isn't really an issue with a specific television. I'll probably buy a new surround setup since the speakers connected to our tv now, from 10+ years ago, sound like total crap and are hardly working.

LG and Sony seem to be reviewed pretty well. When I have the chance to get over to some stores or a Sony Outlet (even though the closest is 20 miles out) I'll definitely look into the prefered brands from here.

I'll surf it asap... Thank you!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.
