That looks like water damage or similar. If I were you I'd dry it out and make it look as if none of it is your fault then send it back to Nintendo saying the 3DS is broken.and ahve it replaced under warranty.

If you are gonna send it back, just make sure you send it with the official screens and battery, obviously.
Also, as far as I know there isn't a way to boot directly to a flashcart :( , not on the 3DS at least.

Sounds like a bad connection.
Yes that screen has lines in it.

As you tried to repair yourself Nintendo wont touch it.

Look at the top left of the top screen.... either the picture is messed up or there is some serious hardware damage there.

clearly console has been dropped / damaged
the general care of the console looks terrible
Exactly, and as the damage is most probably entirely his fault, not a 'natural' fault of the system, Nintendo will probably not accept it under warranty and will only give him the option of paying for them to repair it for him.

This is why I suggest breaking it in another way or finding a fault that was beyond your control and complain specifically about that. Nintendo will then allow a replacement under warranty.

Sorry, i've forget to explain xD

The original screens are stored, at first I thought the problem could be with them, connection problems, etc., I swapped them for these two and the error remains the same, does not show anything, it only starts. this 3ds never hit the ground and always been well maintained, it is only in this state because after not finding any solution I tried to open it and check for something inside.
This top screen took a beating in 3ds an old friend of mine, though it still showed images in 3ds him. just added to see if it worked since there was another screen for testing

xD
I had this problem with my first launch model a few times, try popping out the SD card and putting it back in, keep trying if it doesnt work. If say about the 3rd or 4th time it still doesnt work just send it back to Nintendo.
I'll try this! but explain something, i need to do this if 3ds power on? or a ineed to poweer off all time when put on put off?

Hey guys, thanks for all help xD

The first time remove the SD while the power is on then try rebooting without the card. Second time put the card in but lock it and reboot. Third time just put it in like normal. The second try worked for me.

I had the same problem. Sent it back to Nintendo and the repaired it. The problem was with the mainboard. Cost me $68.00 usd. Still a hell of alot cheaper than buying a new one. Major downside is I lost everything that was stored on the system memory. All puzzles and Mii quest GONE! The good note is that it kept the same 3DS code, So all the games and Ambassador things stayed with it.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card

Slightly slower loading but a bit more convenient
