In order to copy a game save to a new nand, I need to play that game at least once.

Is there anyway to copy an already existing game save from the sd card on to the nand without the need of playing a game at least once? If there isn't, I guess I'll have to play every single game that I've already played in order to get a ticket created for it.

Yes, you need to play the game at least once. There are other ways of doing it by copying over certain files and stuff, but I'm not exactly sure which files.

I had always wished that option was added to SGMgx, but that app is way too buggy anyways.

If you backup your savegames with the nintendo backup disc, you can restore them to any wii using the disc without playing the game.

Do you mean the "pink fish disc"? Thats good to know. That will save a lot of aggravation in the future when I am repairing a wii.

Thank you mauifrog. You've always got some info that I never knew of.

if you dump the tmd for your games when you copy the saves, you can restore the saves without playing the game and without using the leaked nintendo disc.

Could this method be added to tools like save game manager gx? It would prolly require including the tmd in the game save backups it makes, but is that possible?

That would be ideal. I don't see why it hasn;t been added to SGMgx yet, but it really is way too buggy so I will never use it anyways even if it does have that feature, because the bugs will probably prevent it from working anyways.

I would ask, how do I get hold of the "pink fish" disc. But... "You know the rules and so do I..." about posting links to illegal files. Seeming as it's originally owned by Nintendo.

Anyway... Even if I were to google it, I would most probably be able to only get information about it and not a download.

That disc would actually be beneficial to me, seeming as I've just started a new nand as it still had old data on it from when I had installed DVDX and anything that I used to have on the console which I've either removed or replaced during it's usage over the years since I've had it.

It is.... usually floating around somewhere... AFAIK should be able to uhhh... "obtain" it the same way games on the internet are... "obtained".

...just look hard enough, and it will just... come to you.....

One thing to note however, if you do "obtain" and use this, and end up sending the Wii to Nintendo one day, before they start repairs, they do a check for unauthorized stuff, such as homebrew softmods, and whether or not this leaked disc has been used on it (disc writes some stuff to NAND that Nintendo use when they used to use this disc in repairs), and if so, they may charge a fee or refuse to repair it. But of course if that does not bother you, then there is no problem.

Yeah... I have all the information that I need now. In my opinion, the extraction/installation code from the disc could be useful as part of SaveGame Manager GX.

Anyway... this may sound ridiculous, but... can someone please lock this topic. Before some n00b discovers why, damysteryman is acting a bit weird. lol :L

- Thanks

IIRC, IOS16 was on the disc. It got installed on the fly, but I forget.
It was. You can install it manually by ripping it off the disc or "acquiring" a copy of the wad from elsewhere. The filenames are "syn-backup1.31.iso" (or rar) for the disc and "IOS16-64-v257-prod.wad" for the IOS.

If I was able to acquire the disc somehow, just by out-of-blue.... then how would I be able to get to work with cfg loader mod?

Using system menu 4.3e, cfg loader mod r22 & IOS249-d2x-v9-beta (r47). IOS16-64-v257-prod will be installed, once I have acquired the disc.

*i guess, the cat is out of the bag now*

Ok, I extracted IOS16 v257 from the disc image and installed onto my nand using MMM. Then I ran cfg loader mod r22 and booted the pink disc (.wbfs). After that, I just get a black screen and the wii remote desyncs.

If I had a blank dvd-r I would do it that way, but I can't as I haven't got one at all.

I've only played with it when it was first leaked and I was still one of those filthy pirates. I've since then deleted it (i think).

edit: Yeah, I don't have it anymore. Sorry man. I can't help you with it.
