Ugh, if he was just going to add button only functions why didn't he just add dual stick support also? That would have shut a lot of people up.
Omg, because he didn't KNOW there was a circle pad pro. He said that so many times. When he knew about it, it was too late.
But these button functions poped out of no where in the last 2 or 3 months, and the CPP came around 2 months ago (It was announced 5 months ago in japan). I dont really CARE about dual sticks but it would have made alot of people happy to just put it there.

Well, while it was announced around that time he didn't know. Perhaps the game should have been delayed in order to implement it? As for me I don't really care since I'm comfortable with the stylus control. (THANK YOU, MPH) XD!

Just cleared chapter 9! By far the most impressive 3DS game yet, production levels off the scale!
Yeah, and the surprise after 10 will have you pounded with Lolz
Also this game is HARD. I mean I know it has a difficulty slider and all but on normal there's bottem barrel shit in every chest you pass but after 5 (where you start getting awesome stuff) I barely make it through the flying segments.

That's awesome, I'm In DC visiting my sister and my copy is in my mailbox in Chicago! I'm looking forward to starting it when I get back and I'm really glad I just read your comment. I was really hoping there is some challenge to this game. Thanks for that.

Glad to help the hype, I'm also going to host a tournament or "Kid Icarus Day" next weekend, hopefully NN is up by then so I can use communities to make it easier.

Game is fucking impressive. And I love the controls. (YES, I SAID IT!!!!) Didn't take me much time to get used to, it's pretty easy. I keep beating others in Wi-Fi it's amazing.

I agree, the controls do not take long to get used to (personally), still have yet to try the online stuff yet, single player is just too damn fun!

what a let down this game is a POS , nothing like the original
It wasnt supposed to be anything like the original, it was supposed to be completly different from the orginial. The original is 25 fucking years old, do you want a 25 year old platformer?

Dude, no matter what I do, I can't beat any chapter on intensity level 5... I always start with 5, and I usually die halfway through, then get downgraded to 4. My personal rule is that I start each chapter one intensity level beyond what I completed the previous one on (id est, if I complete chapter 5 on intensity level 4, I start chapter 6 on intensity level 5). Hopefully I get better. :P

In the meantime, this game is insane! Nintendo 3DS's new killer app (replacing OoT 3D) for sure!

  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a patched ROM
