Mario-Tennis-3.jpg

Mario Tennis for the 3DS was announced last year and according to this listing from GameFly, the final name of the game is Mario Tennis Open. If the listing is accurate, the game will arrive on the 20th of May. I suspect there’ll be an announcement closer to the anniversary of the 3DS if this is the case. It’d make sense for there to be a conference from Nintendo around that time.

I just hope there's enough replay value and not just a regular tennis game with Nintendo characters and priced at $40.

Would be neat if there was a story-ish mode like Mario Tennis GBC.

Came in here to say this, the GBC Mario tennis and Golf games were great examples of how to make a sports game deep and rewarding in single player mode.

Sadly I think it'll just be tournaments with no RPG elements.

The game's being developed by the same developer(Camelot),so you never know
Not much I can say about this news, though I guess the name sounds incomplete?

Since this is on 3DS, I'm assuming it'll be similar to the previous handheld entries in the series (GBA/GBC). The story mode is a great part of Mario Tennis, and just might push me into getting a 3DS.

Am I the only one who thinks that they like left out part of the title?

"Mario Tennis Open" seems, for lack of a better pun, too "open". What about "Mario Tennis Open Tour" or something like that? It's really bothering me. Also it needs "3D" on the end since apparently ALMOST EVERY SINGLE 3DS GAME needs to remind you that it uses 3D. Like "Oh, it's not Star Fox 64, it's Star Fox 64 3D".

Well yo've got the Australian Open, the US Open, the French Open... None of those have anything like 'Tour' at the end at the end.

Chill dude. There's still no solid confirmation that the actual name will be Mario Tennis Open.

As for the '3D'...

Resident Evil: Revelations
Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance
Theatrhythm Final Fantasy
Dynasty Warriors VS
Dead or Alive: Dimensions
Samurai Warriors: Chronicles
And some more...

Not all have the '3D' inside...

Is Camelot working on this one?

You just named 0 Nintendo titles.
So, invalid points.
Mario kart 7
Super Mario 3D Land - Nope, this one has nothing to do with the glasses-less 3D, Iwata said in the interview.
Kids Icarus uprising
Fire emblem awaking or whatever
Super Pokemon Rumble
Luigi mansion 2

lol Guild who said every 3DS game has 3D named after the title.

Nintendo fanboys to the rescue.

Guild has a point. A lot of 3DS titles have 3D in the name rather pointlessly. Starfox is definitely the best example though. They're trying way too hard to sell the gimmick.

The fuck? How does that me a fanboy...

Zelda Oot and star fox had 3D in their titles because they are both N64 ports, Those are the only Nintendo games to have 3D in the title and both N64 ports.

is it really any worse when some of recent collections come out with "hd collection" padded in on the end?
