that's probably because you didn't update your usb-loader and\or cIOS. Either that or you partitioned your hard drive wrong (ie. not primary\active). Another possibility is that your hard drive is one of those rare cases that is compatible with the Wii if formatted as WBFS but not if formatted as FAT32.
Thanks dude!

Hi, i got a simple question, my cousin have a backup of karaoke glee and she can't play, black screen, her wii is soft modded to play only backup discs (not on HDD) and she have Neogamma on her wii .. she don't know nothing about modding things and all, i did the mod and i want it to be "newb-friendly" to play with her games .. so, do you have an easy solution for this problem ?

Thank You ! :)

PS: she don't have an SD Card in her wii so, she can't play with .dol files i installed directly with .wad so it would be easier to play ..

i tried install ULoader and explain how to change de cIOS to 224 so she would be able to play with her Glee games .. it's not very "newb friendly" but, that's what i found, then, is there any way to play those game more "newb friendly" than that ?

Just bought a new original game: Cars 2. It's saying that I need to make an update... should I or not? Is there a general "rule of thumbs" about updates?

Thanks

Is there a way of accessing the Wii from your PC through the WiFi i.e. could you browse the contents of your Wii (SD card and USB) from your PC and add/remove files etc.

Be kind to me if this is a stupid question.

wiiftp will do the trick.
I think you mean ftpii, but another solution would be to use WiiXplorer for SMB/FTP.

Thanks, ftpwii works, but only the unofficial 0.22 version on 4.3E.

Funny how little I knew about what WiiXplorer can do. Of the two, I would have to say I prefer WiiXplorer.

Thanks to both

thanks for replying, i formatted it to fat32 before i started since thats what the instructions said i should do.
What SM version are you on? What do you mean by "access the SD card"? What method are you trying to use to launch the Hackmii Installer? If it's Bannerbomb, you might want to try a different version.

This is my first time soft modding my wii. I had a wiikey 2 installed before this like in 2009. But now I am reading that if I update it will brick my wii so I am looking for a way to update my wii without bricking it.

I am using 4.1U.

I downloaded modmii and copied the folders to my sd card like the instructions said to but when i click on the sd card button on the bottom left screen on the wii it says loading and then freezes.

That's pretty much what I thought. You shouldn't press the blue SD card symbol, as that will freeze your Wii. You should instead go to Settings > Data Management > Channels > SD card, and that should launch Bannerbomb. You can probably follow the instructions from there. Oh, and my Wii still has a Wiikey 2 installed and it works fine on 4.3E. I don't recommend installing that, however, just follow Modmii's instructions.

Thanks, I'll try that now.

I dont even use my Wii. I bought this Wii for my sister 3 years ago, and I just bought her Dance Dance Revolution and it says it needs an update if she wants to play it. And she's been complaining to me for years to update it so she can play the game and other games. While installing modmii on my computer it says it recommends sm version 4.1U which is the one I am on but if I stay on that version how can I get the Wii to play the newer games?

If you install Priiloader (and I think Modmii should do that by default) you can enable a hack that blocks disc updates. You should be able to play the game that way.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! don't update if you have priiloader installed (highly recommended) then hold reset button to access it and go into settings and turn system and disk updates to OFF

So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds

It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
