Famitsu's editors have awarded their latest perfect score. This time, an overseas game finally managed to cross the 39 barrier and received a perfect 40 as Famitsu's four person review crew each scored The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim a 10. The game sees PS3 and Xbox 360 release on the 8th.

The game itself is pretty much perfect. There isn't much I can think of that could make it better. I agree with this review very much.

Well, no. It's far from perfect, you can't have a Elder Scroll game that's perfect.

Famitsu reviewed the PS3 version btw.

Well there are some small problems I feel that could definitely be done better after playing for 50 hours.
The PC UI is clumsy and buggy, the textures look ugly/not on par with the other parts of the game (luckily mods already fixed that!), and some skills are incredibly overpowered/too fast to lvl (lockpicking, archery (in combination with sneaking), enchanting, smithing). This game isn't perfect, still a 9,5 out of 10 IMHO.

I think Skyrim is the greatest Elder Scrolls title. Whether it is a perfect game. I don't think it is. I think Zelda OoT is the only game that came close to an actual 10/10 for me. Other than that, I don't see it. Perfection is supposed to be nearly impossible to obtain, so obviously these things are not perfect. Anyways, I am glad to see a quality Elder Scrolls game. Famitsu's reviews may not be the greatest, but other review companies are even worse. At this point I don't even read reviews because their is more than enough information that makes it obvious what to buy and what not to buy. This game is an obvious purchase.

Skyrim is pretty much a rehash of oblivium for what i seen
I loved Oblivion, played it for about 250 hours until I got tired of it, if I play Skyrim for the same amount of time I'll be really able to comment on that statement. The only things Oblivion has as a plus at the moment is:
- World is bigger if you just look at the terrain, not if you take in consideration the amount of stuff to do. But purely the terrain, Oblivion was bigger
- Oblivion had the ultimate form of freedom, it's slightly (very slightly, for story reasons probably) less in Skyrim

All the other points, Skyrim wins, hands down.

Please don't make moronic uneducated guesses.

They're similar, but I honestly couldn't stand to play Morrowind or Oblivion for more than a couple hours. They're incredibly boring and clunky. The combat is trash, in every respect. Levelling skills is boring and unrewarding, and quests are highly uninteresting. The map was huge, but basically barren and empty.
Skyrim basically fixed every single one of those aspects. This isn't another CoD or sports game, where they update the graphics and shuffle some stuff, then re-release. It's a solid game that is actually enjoyable to play, unlike its predecessors.

I'd call Skyrim a 9.5/10 as well, and I usually don't get highly into western RPGs. With mods, the game will easily be perfect.

Perfect in a sense that it's worth a 10/10. There isn't much I would add to it, and most of the bugs and glitches are gone. Sure improvements could be made, but the vast majority of the game is seamless.

Um, no offence Famitsu, but aren't you getting a bit lax on your 40/40 scores lately?
You're handing them out like hot cakes. Bring back those harsh critics already.

For the record there have been nearly twice the amount of games to get perfect scores by Famitsu this gen then every other generation combined. About half the games with near perfect (aka 39/40) scores are current generation.

So either games have been improving or Famitsu is shit. Well, games have been improving but Famitsu is just shit anyway.

Don't worry. Looking at Valwin's latest posts, you can see that most of them are trying to be witty but not succeeding and thus trying to troll educatedly while failing pretty hard. Not really something that should be looked into too much or actually noted in any way. Easier to just through away random half-truths and see what happens when someone who doesn't know about the topic takes it for granted..

On topic: Skyrim is a great game, but as always I tend to say "so far". Apparently the best experience would be with mods, but thus isn't a must to have a PC version? Sad that I will probably buy the PS3 version in the end..

After 15 hours I was done with the game, it got too samey. Go to one place, go back, get round mountain repeat over and over. Its a big world and I can see why people are into it but there's a lot I'm not into. Its one of those games where you get what you put in and I just didn't want to put more in. I guess I prefer something more linear like Zelda which I'm more than happy to spend hours on.

Something like Dead Island was pretty much fetch quest, wasn't as deep and all that but it had something that made me want to spend longer in that world. Also the combat was very satisfying...and the combat is one of those things that stops Skyrim from being a perfect game.

Dead Island is horrible, I guess if you enjoy intense head bobble and zombies that get killed in one hit, then the game is fun.
