Hello hello everyone! I notice some people has problem with me and staff of this website recommend me tell you about myself. So I am willing to tell you about me. I am deaf, it mean complete mute in your ear, but not all of it. My dad is hearing and give me ability to talk and ear little bit without hear-aid. For example, I am listening the music right now. Survival Kid - Jungle. How did I know that music? I just recording and see game look like. It look like jungle to me. Next one, between hear-aid and CI (I don't know to spell what CI stand for, but I am sure some of you know what CI stand for.) I have 2 hear-aid with me. But I am using one hear-aid in my right ear, because it hear better than my left ear (surgery to cause it ((long story, want to know, ask me.)) ) Hear-aid didn't mean can hear anything. CI does. Why? CI is same ability as hearing people's ear. Other thing you complain about my grammar problem. Let me tell you first before you comment it. Ok? Reason why my grammar is not perfect, because I always using ASL (America Sign Language) sentence. My English teacher told me I have to use grammar skill to require to talking with hearing people. My teacher is right, but how did I can getting right for grammar? Like I said, I am lacking of grammar and that why I am using ASL sentence. I am keep trying to use ESL (English Sign Language) sentence like you guys in USA. Anything to say or ask me, shoot it. (Gibb's line from NCIS)

Hi,

Is it a problem you have since birth or did you had an accident or illness which made you deaf?

Are there any scales to determine how much you are deaf? (like for the vision, up to 10/10)
If there is, how much are you?
You say that your left ear can hear less than your right one, so I guess it's not 100% deaf.

I think what people don't understand is that they think deaf = people who can't hear sounds at all (even with ear-aid)
Is there any other term to explain your problem ?
In france we are using the word "Mal-entendant" (which mean "not hearing well") for people who can still ear but need ear-aid.

PS:
Something which could help for your grammar on a forum:
Use a new line to separate your sentences, or the ideas you are talking about.

For example first "block" about the deaf, and second one about your grammar.
Making easy to see sentences will help a lot to read a message and understand what you write.

Writing everything on one block without putting line spaces is not easy to read and users just don't care to read it.

Well, my mom said I was born early 6 months and born deaf. To me, I am not complete deaf because I can hear some without hear-aid. Well....I think 7.5 to me for deaf. Well....just one. Remember I mention about my left ear, I has tumor cancer when I was baby. That why I can't much on my left. Feel like I can hear high pitch sound in my left ear than my right ear.

6 months is a lot.
It can create a lot of problems, and the tumor didn't help :(

Did you went to specialized schools or were you on same schools as other children?

About your grammar, how did you learn to write english? Is there special courses for deaf people?
I think countries are lacking infrastructures for people with difficulties. It's not easy.

I think the communication is a big barrier for you, it's not something which is visible (you are not in a wheelchair for example), people don't always understand when they are not aware.
It means that it's to you to make more effort in explaining that you have difficulties.
Maybe in that sense you could find some help about communications skill for deaf/non deaf people interaction (maybe you already did? or you don't like that? or there are no association like that?).

I am surprised that you are deaf too.. I am deaf and European.

@Cyan... I am deaf myself too.

There is no such a thing... Ears are one of the 5 senses we have, and a person with no ability to hear is more limited than a person who hears. Some hearing people have problem with grammars as well because they are European. It depends on what you mean by grammar. If you mean grammar by speaking, then you wont make sense, but if you mean grammar by writing, because since you guys cannot hear what we are saying, or hear what others are saying. That's the problem, we might not be able to write things professionally. However, it is not right to generalize deaf people by looking at just some deaf people.

Please understand that.. some deaf people are lazy not to read and write and use the signs through webcam or other equipments to communication. That's their preferences way to communication. :)

The Sign Language is a visual language. Here:

Well I went to hearing school, but it is not really work it out so my mom took me to KSD (Kentucky School for the Deaf) and raised there for 13 years. About my grammar, I learn in KSD. That all I know. About 1950 to 1980, alot of deaf people to join it until horrible event, start less to join to deaf school, because of horrible event.

What I'm strongly angry against the sign language is that ... it's country Dependant.

It's not even an universal language, like "French", "German", "Sign"
nah, it's "French-sign" "American-sign" "Japanese-sign".
I think it's very stupid :(

As it's symbolic language, it should be common. It's not using words but idea so it shouldn't be difficult to use the same sign for the same idea.

What do you mean ? Even Hearing people spoke their own languages just like deaf people in the internationally spoke their own sign languages. Nothing's wrong with that. All languages are wonderfully and a gifts. The same languages are rather bored, you know.

I was born deaf at 4 months old due to meningitis illness. Therefore, I know American Sign Language and Portuguese Sign Language (Where I came from). More than one languages are fun.

Of course, each country have their own culture and it's great to learn.

I just find it bad that even deaf/non talking people have to care the language they are "talking".
They can't be understood internationally, it's just adding barrier to the handicap, in my opinion (but it's an opinion from someone without deafness, so maybe I don't get it).

I don't have physical handicap, but I have communication problem with real people, that's why I think it's adding difficulties to what "normal" people already have to take care of. Having a common language for all deaf people would help break a barrier. it's not much but it would have helped.

Don't worry, I think reading envy is just something you lose and get back from time to time.
I have some period where I don't read anymore, and some where I buy a lot of books.

Find what you like reading, it's already helping.

@Narayan, that's alright. We appreciate that, smile.

@Cyan, being deaf ourselves has nothing to do with physical handicap. Being deaf can do anything that hearing can do but what we cannot do is hear. Did you know that there is deaf doctor, deaf lawyer, and hard of hearing fireman even polices ?? It doesn't matter.

Yeah, if you are in our shoes as I said to Narayan then you might understand why.
