So I have a softmodded Wii and all that jazz and am getting a RETAIL copy of Skyward Sword. Now I'm aware sometimes games come with auto updates to the system. If this happens what would happen to the Wii? Would it just delete all the homebrew stuff or brick my Wii?

If it just deletes the Homebrew I don't really care... bricking the wii on the other hand...

No and no.

And it doesn't update anything.

No? I guess there are no more firmware updates for the Wii at this point anyway...

I had the same question if it would be any auto-updates. So good to know, but I have another question however, and I didn't feel like starting a whole new thread (I know mods doesn't usually like that :P) Do I need to install any new CIOS or whatever to play the game? I haven't downloaded the game yet but I have some sources I guess where I can download them from but does anyone have any links that is tested and works? :)

Jeez, dude. You just signed up today. In other words: you just had to agree not to ask or share illegal files or links. So...which part of that didn't you understand?

I am sorry caused any trouble. But a link for download wasn't my main thing that I asked. If it is that much of a trouble I can edit and delete that part. I just wanna know more about cIOS and stuff regarding the Zelda game. This IS the Hacking section so it shouldn't be anything bad to ask.

I just want to confirm. I don't have anything that blocks updates and the game is being shipped to someone who will open the game and play it before I get the chance to fix that. So just for confirmation here since the game is out in Europe does it have auto updates or not? I've been getting varying reports from around the web.

It will depend if the Wii is already up to date or not.

Almost All games have an update partition with the latest "firmware version". Zelda has the 4.3E/U update.
If the Wii is already 4.3, then it won't ask to update.

If it's on a lower version, yes it will ask to update and replace the cIOS with stub versions (well, not totally right, it will depend on the user's current hack content, IOS version, etc..)

Either StartPatch, either Priiloader.

Startpatch is physically patching the system menu files (remove already applied patches if any before patching again).
Priiloader rename the system menu files, and install itself as the place of the system menu (like a bridge) : when you boot, it load Priiloader, then load the real system meny with the patches applied in memory only. (system menu is untouched, except it's renamed).

Both have a risk of brick.
I never used any of them, so I let other users tell you what they think about these homebrew.
But I guess they will prefer Priiloader as it can act as a brick protection in few brick cases.

Almost all games? Name one that does not have one. Wii Sports and Twilight Princess have updates, even if not a single Wii was updated by them.

I thought some old games had empty update partitions. Maybe I'm mistaken.
Well, not totally empty, but with old IOS and no system menu files.

Maybe they were only edited update partition, like wiiBrickBlocker?

And I don't have a lot of recent games so I used "maybe" to not affirm something wrong :P
But it make sense that they all have the latest known file versions.

Hmm, ok, i'm not sure if those 2 contain a system menu, but they contain IOS9, that i know. The blick blocker might replace the update partition with this IOS9 update partition instead of removing it. I think i read it somewhere, but that was ages ago.
