Now THIS, could be interesting! I'll be damned if I have to use a standard controller on a Nintendo system for first person shooters. I deal with it on OnLive because it's my only option but I refuse to loose pointer controls on the Wii-U

It seems more likely to me that this device would look more like that uDraw tablet than that crazy drawing...

It probably works exactly the same way (touch pad attached to wiimote)

Yes but not a standard touchpad. The attachment doesn't have any electronics apart from an IR LED. The touch surface is semitransparent, and illuminated from the inside by an IR LED. When you touch the surface, the Wiimote sees the light reflected off your finger, and that's how it knows what part of the pad you're touching.

And the Wiimote will have to be in a fixed position relative to the touch surface.

Looks like Nintendo is trying to give all players touchpads without requiring every player to buy a Wii pad controller, but why would every player have a touchpad? The Wiimote has a pointer function, why not just point? Apart from drawing I can't imagine where a touch pad couldn't be replaced by other Wiimote functions, but what game asks all four players to draw stuff at the same time? I doubt there's that much demand for a simultaneous Pictionary game.

Now that's... incredibly pointless.

Infrared sensors work perfectly fine as the mouse controllers, why improve on something that doesn't need improvement?

As far as a drawing pad is concerned, uDraw, anyone?

FAR better shape for this particular use.
