How much would it cost to get my switch modchipped? Also, what are the advatages of Modchipping rather than Softmodding?

The main advantage is that any and every Switch can be modchipped, whereas softmod only works on early models of the original Switch, not the majority of later manufactured ones and no Lite or OLED.

The other advantage is that you can boot standalone with the modchip, without having to connect another device to push a payload.

how much would getting it modchipped cost? provided I don't do it myself.

What if I did it my self? How much would the chip and other necessities cost?
They are just a few dollars but it is not the modchip what you pay for.
It is the skills and equipment of the tech guy what you pay for.

For a stable modchip, you need to do some smd micro soldering and drill into the motherboard.

Nonsense. I barely had to scrape the mb, and my mod is solid. I didn’t skimp on masking all of my joints and wires, so none of my joints are going to budge. Nor the dat0 adapter.

I was talking about the kamikaze mod, that doesn't use that dat0 adapter.
Most problems I get on my desk are related to the dat0 adapters.
They work fine for a few weeks/months, until they don't.

This is not something you can buy stuff for and then immediately do. The Switch's internal components are really small and delicate, so you need to practice soldering random/useless/cheap stuff first before you try a modchip installation -- else you'd be risking bricking a $300 device.

You don't realise how small and difficult it is until you have the modchip in hand. That's when you realise ALL the pics/videos/tutorials you've seen which make it look simple are zoomed in

Not if you mask the whole thing so it can’t budge. Kamikaze is aptly named, because it’s insane.
