"Switch 2" leaks addressed by Nintendo

We've seen quite a few leaks, renders and mockups of the so-called "Nintendo Switch 2" recently which could indicate that the official announcement is imminent. After a period of silence, Nintendo has finally addressed these leaks. Speaking to CNET Japan, the company said something along the lines of the following (based on Google Translate): "the gaming hardware that Genki claims to be Nintendo hardware at CES is informal and not what Nintendo provided to the company."

Nintendo has also issued a similar statement to the Japanese publication Sankei. A Nintendo representative said the following to Sankei: “These images and videos are not official.”

On the other end of the leaks, Genki has provided some clarifications after stirring up the gaming community. Speaking to online outlet Game*Spark, they noted that their "Switch 2" models and accessories are based on leaks and that they have not actually seen the actual device.

This goes against what was initially implied by Genki and sows some doubt over the veracity of the leaks. We might only know the actual hardware when Nintendo decides to unveil the console, which hopefully will be in the coming months.

keep denying your making a switch U all you want nintendo. the poof is out there has been for months. the switch 2 isn't going to be any different than what the ps5 pro is doing except no where near as powerful

"Informal" and "not official" doesn't sound like they're denying it'll look pretty much exactly like that, just that they're objecting to the images being distributed.
I feel like you're overthinking this

Like you really want them to straight up say, "No, not real?"

They're a Japanese Business, I'm pretty sure they're being professional about this

If nothing else, the dimensions of the console are indeed accurate since they were given to accessories manufacturers by Nintendo, so of course they're not gonna say that.

I thought the same thing. Their wording is very carefully chosen on this, otherwise they’d just deny it and that would be that.

Gee, the "leaks" were not true ? What a shock :rofl2: When will people stop taking baseless rumors and speculations seriously ?

I wonder if by saying "they're not official" they really mean it's prototype hardware that may change a bit from the final product, it could also be a translation error.

They literally aren't saying that lol, they're saying that it's not official (as if anyone was thinking they were ... DUH)

Some claims are far from baseless too

Are you saying my Uncle that Works at Nintendo(tm) fed me bad information?

I'm starting to feel that Switch 2 Reveal Fever. I know they don't want the announcement to disrupt Switch sales, and @osaka35 had a good rumor/theory that Nintendo wants to have plenty of units ready for launch.

Still, I want to know if Nintendo's going to choose a good name. I want to know if it's "just an upgraded Switch" or if it'll have a gimmick or two for obligatory differentiation purposes. I want to know what games they've been working on to help build the hype.

"...not what Nintendo provided to the company." So they did provide something. I wonder what was provided if it isn't switch 2 material?

I also hope they will finally release the kid icarus game. Has been 2 gens of hardware.
