Further information about the upcoming Nintendo Switch "Mig Switch" flashcart has been revealed

A few days after the monumental reveal of a work-in-progress flashcart being made for the Nintendo Switch, more information has been made available. The previously unnamed flashcart is set to be called "Mig Switch", and the initial Twitter user that unveiled the Mig Switch's existence, After Time X, managed to get in contact with the team behind it all. According to them, they were offered a review unit of the Mig Switch, but turned it down, as the After Time X team fears legal repercussions from dealing with "backup loader" hardware.

Another interesting tidbit is that existing dumps of Switch games will NOT be compatible with the Mig Switch, and backups will need to be repacked to function with the flashcart. Games played with the flashcart can be played online, as well.

The Mig Switch currently has a website, where it is seeking distributors to work together with in order to sell initial limited quantities of the Mig Switch device, with the first units to be delivered sometime in January. The team claims that full availability is expected around March/April 2024. It'll come with the Mig Switch card, and the Mig Switch Dumper, with the latter of which allowing you to back up your games using NXdumpTool.

I think it’s best to just have 3-5 games on sd card on this. It’s not worth having all your switch game collection on this but I’m sure just for laughs a reviewer will do that, if you want to call the person that does that a reviewer.

I’m guessing the flash cart only needs one screw if the bottom of the two halves latch onto each other to keep closed.

While the dumper needs four screws at the corners due to the way it was 3D printed. The label also looks like a sticker. If the unit was injection molded then I’d figure they’d also have the graphic inked on it as well.

you make me remember a Russian legend of Lenin age, where to a engineer not regimen adept was commissioned to build a big flour mill but using only a nail and if he is unable to building it will be executed because failing to the regimen. He build the big building and used only 1 nail then was executed because only a Capitalist will be able to build so big machine without using communist nail...

    @BigOnYa, Well, in that thread they say it's pretty much safe to manage save files back and forth to consoles as long as you don't go online with cheats activated or with a pirate game.

    The save file will be created and started normally on the Switch's OFW with a legit game. Then that save file will be transfered to the emulator and continue the gameplay there. Then send it back to the console.

    Just play it on the emulation at home and portable use the normal save, I wouldn't risk anything if online is important to you
