It is something being worked on right now.
well at least there's no wall in the way :D

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Along with this, would trying to exploit this be something one without the current exploit could work on, or does it require the current kexploit?
this is a great point, almost like a secondary hax with the 3ds, if i'm reading correctly?

Can someone please point me to the link that explains the reasoning behind waiting to see if Nintendo patched it on the next update before it gets released?
'Cause I don't get the logic here.

Do they think that Nintendo will go; "Oh, darn! we didn't see that and we've already released an update, so we won't just patch it and release another update in a few days - it's too late to do that."

Because it sure seems Nintendo knows that by never releasing another update, they can keep all of the lowly peasants that listened to that other guy and updated past 5.3.2 from having anything.
(Maybe that was their plan all along?)

Now that the NX has been announced, the wii-U is dead anyways.
Just look how many used units are for sale on ebay.

No one in their right mind would buy a new one now knowing in a few months it will be 100% obsolete.

@Marionumber1 I think that if Nintendo was thinking of another update for the Wii U would come with Star Fox Wii at this point or this forgotten and die with 5.5.1 , if you are working on IOSU why that delay the release of xploit I think with iosu the kernel xploit possibly be obsolete , x other hand also release the xploit think now would be good for new developers , that's my opinion with respect.

Mn1 is doing the right thing by not releasing it now. It is better to have 2 instead of 1 exploit to fall on. I think every hacker/dev, if smart, does this.
Yeah, knowing they at least have a lead on a possible second exploit changes my views from maybe release to definitely wait.

Not necessarily, although it is true that updates patched holes in the software but also add features or correction to the end user, even if the Wii U is not a priority Nintendo could still update the system to improve or correct software issues, the wii U still have a one year until NX launch, is a long way to think that no new updates will come out

Nintendo never bothered to patch out the Wii's exploits though, even on the vWii

you think seriously worried about the Nintendo Wii U yet? Now his priority is NX and sell what Wii U still have in stock, I also believe that if released now, and is patched by Nintendo [I do not think it will happen or they had patched in 5.5.0] developers find another vulnerability
new update = another door for another xploit :)

do the exploits revolve around games?
like smashhax, ninjhax, smdhax?
those are userspace hax, and cause games have no JIT to copy code into and then execute, it has to run entirely with return oriented chains, it's the same on both 3DS and Wii U

All the Wii U userspace hax (first HTML sploit for 4.0.0-5.1.0, second HTML sploit for 5.1.1-5.3.2, MP4 stagefright sploit for 5.4.0-5.5.1) have been through the web browser cause it's eons easier to work with, nice static address (0x01800000) and no having to fit pieces together from existing code (well, you do to copy it into JIT but that's immensely simplified)

any kind of kernel hax deals strictly after we get code running from this first part, and the basic idea is still to get something with the right permission to write somewhere where it's not supposed to, copy data into the syscall table or into the heap or overwrite a kernel structure to change what it's doing or something, the hard part is seeing what has the right permissions, not many actually deal with r/w, we've gotten lucky these first few times
