That’s hardcore no cert at all or do you mean actually from the dump? Have you been playing Mario aces as well? Did you also turn that data sharing link off on your Nintendo account? I’ve red that’s possible now not sure if it makes any difference tbh with certificates. I’m even wandering now if these bans are even connected to using sx os or is it just a coincidence that the ban flag maybe coming from using previous cfw and the blame is being pushed too using the sx I’ve not had a sniff of any ban yet and my sd has only ever been used for sx files. I’ve also noticed the bans seem to be Americans no uk yet whether that’s a reason as well.
I have disabled only Share Error Information. I certainly will not check Mario Online-play without cert2 due to high risk.

did you go on your Nintendo settings account and uncheck your "usage information" I know its something you can do now I'm not sure if you can do this in the US I think its only EU accounts but I was wandering if you did. Mario Odyseey is Card 1 you should be ok with your zlda certificate I have the retail of Mario Odyseey so I've not tried this title. So let me get this right you have you used Mario Aces & Wolfenstein 2 online without a certificate embedded in the xci file and your still ok?

Edit: you are eu mate repsect you do know you can go on your nintendo account and deselect usage information in settings? this is supposed to stop information being sent to nintendo? but I'm not sure if it helps anything. You can deselect it on your switch but you can also do it in your account online.

I have selected Usage Information, and im already played alot Mario Odyssey without cert. Always online.
My games which has no OnlinePlay have no cert.

Mario Odyseey does use online features you know when you go to the scoreboards that's connecting to the online servers. I just inject my zelda one into them all but it seems still ok.

Why are you playing some games without using your cert? Seems a pretty dumb move to me, if it was me I would use my cert in every single game even the single player ones, just like I did on my 3ds.

As far as I was aware he was injecting his zelda certificate in to all his games and he has not been banned at all, unless hes decided to test this method out instead to see if it bans without a certificate I'm not sure. The information hes giving now is becoming to conflict with older comments which I am a bit concerned about.

I appreciate the input mate, won't play Mario Tennis online anymore although it might be already too late for me.

Anyway just wanted to give my two cents and say it does, technically, work.

Wasn't planning on buying any card2 game or paying to play online altogether so I guess I dont care much.

Did you get banned in the end?

Good to know. So far has anyone banned due to using a Type 1 card cert in a Type 2 game?

Update:
Just got my games cert ban (Walfenstein II) error:2124-4025
Guess the issue is importing it to play Mario tennis aces since most of the games i tried before worked without errors
this game worked but when i tried SF collection it gave me the error, played RL, Fortnite (official eshop titles) and logged to eshop normally
so i think it's just a card cert ban

Yes, it is indeed a certificate ban

Guess so...

So, just to make a recap on which certificate is safe to use, donor gamecard must be:

1 - Same or greater size
2 - Same Type
3 - From an offline game

Anything else?

EDIT: for example, Breath of the Wild is 16GB, type 1, and doesn't have online functionality as far as I can tell, which makes it ideal for Type 1 games.

Lego The Incredibles is 16GB, type 2 and no online, which should make it ideal for Type 2 games.

But why? is it type1 to type2
Neither, it has do with the fact that a foreign header was injected into a game. See here for information: https://www.reddit.com/r/SwitchHacks/comments/8rxg26/psa_strong_antipiracy_measures_implemented_by/

I don't like the misinformation being spread here. Its being based off of personal experience, theory that not being banned is equivalent to being safe, but most importantly making the assumption that the Switch handles information extremely similarly to the 3DS with no upgrades to security. This has also been demonstrably proven false with the prime example being certificate bans. I can't make you or anyone else believe the facts, but if you are going to provide your own theories, at least use something other than your opinion to back up your claims.

Be that as it may, these people are running the certificate injections at their own risk.
Probably all of them will get banned in the end...still it would be interesting hypothesis to watch and see how long before the ban hammer strikes down

Should not the same logic be applied to LayeredFS? Everyone in the scene, even respectable hackers, have said it will lead to bans 100% guaranteed. And yet, I see nearly double the number of users not banned with LayeredFS as there are banned. Banning in the worst case scenario is random, but that's speculation.

If no one tries, no one will know.

What we talk about here is only theory we never said it was 100% safe, in fact every 2 posts you see someone shouting out loud "it's risky, don't do it if you don't want to get banned but if you want to try playing online here is a way that seems safer than others but still not 100% safe"

I don't really see any misinformation being spread.

Actually SF is a card1 game, if you used a card2 it won't work in theory (it will get you banned)

If you are going to tell me the information here is false because users have not been banned yet, yes it is misinformation: https://www.reddit.com/r/SwitchHacks/comments/8rxg26/psa_strong_antipiracy_measures_implemented_by/

Remember: there is a big difference between not banned yet and safe.

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
