For some reason I have dev mode in my apps. I have never used it or bought it before.
Edit: Never mind found out you still have to pay to activate it.

God of War for Ps2? Love to see a video and check out the framerate, I know Modern Vintage Gamer did a video how the S and how much of a beast it was for emulation. He was running dolphin on it with some framerate drops so gamecube, wii and even wiiU, can't wait to see if this will get more support or not.

I did not see any information about WiiU working, but GCN and Wii for sure.
For now I assume there's still a lot of work to optimise these cores and retroarch itself to use SeriesS and X to the fullest but for now it is all great and looks promising.

Then go here using the edge browser on your Xbox to download retroactive (retroarch). It also has a separate PSP one and an FTP client. You can download all if you want.

Yep ... I do wonder how long the retail version will last.

But once I get an Series X, I will opt in for dev mode almost instantly as well.
I must note one limitation which I have heared some people talk about for dev mode retroarch; games bigger then 2GB tend to have some issues loading. (correct me if im wrong here ... not an expert at all in this xbox realm)

g0t in!

The whole mame collection including all cart based consoles fit on a thumb drive. Prob keep me busy a day or two moving redream iso files and pppssspp and ps1 and 2 isos.

.

I already have some of these games on cpajuste's versions on the switch.
And also some on android phones works nice on the azor kishi. And tablet.
And on many many laptops and pcs I guess if we could put retroarch on a Samsung fridge we would do it

I probably wont spend too much time on retroarch, but I do fancy it on the series x.

real retro games that I do play is the championship edition with friends.
Alot of people think they can just step into my garage and woop my ass.
Thats what this arcade cabinet does, to you. It draws that out of people
But believe me when I say
I never lose in my own garage.

Did I noticed correct that you have to activate the dev mode for 19 $?
And is there any progress or good how-to-do-it-easy manuals somewhere ?
Especially the handling of file transfer and updating Retroarch is still waiting for an easier way, isn't it?

Unfortunately there's no tutorial on here. Maybe on some discords.
I'm using the "commercial" ver. of the app so I do not have the dev mode, I plan to buy it when the emulators will be more advanced.
For the file transfer you can use just usb hdd for your games, but for the ps2 you have to put them on ssd of the console itself. There's this "My Files Explorer" I used it to transfer games and it's good enough. I also saw somewhere ftp clients, but not sure where.

First thanks for your response ^_^
There isn't a chance to get the commercial version anymore, is it?
Yep, I found many vids and infos, but nothing that feels complete or up-to-date.
Is there an advancement anyway, some kind of progress thread only for XBOX One/Series ?
So, I can read all roms and isos from USB (except for PS2), so without the size limit of the internal SSD, right ?
Can I select the USB in the "Load Content" section ?
Do I really need to save different configs for each system and load them before change a system ?
Or is it possible to connect content or playlists to a special configuration ?
And what about playlists. Do I have to build them via PC or RetroArch itself ?

So from what I gathered it's not possible to get commercial version of the retroarch or PPSSPP now. Maybe in future it will be available again.

Yes you can select "Load content" and use your USB drive. For big games it can take a lot of time to load ROMs, I think it's because the console is copying the game to the drive before playing it, which is weird. There is also max 4gbs files that you can copy to the SSD

Yes you should have config files for emulators if you want to get the best performance out of console. It can be hard but also that's the fun of it.

You can either try to create playlist automatically by the retroarch or by yourself on the PC and then you can copy it to Xbox.

Guys how do You think is there any possibility to run Citra (3ds emulator) core in our Series consoles? Im aware that Citra dont have DX11 and 12 render which is used by Xbox but i remember similiar problem in past witch N64 and Dreamcast emulation. There is a time when there was no possilibity of using them but with retroarch 1.8.3 n64 cores and dreamcast got ANGLE support which is (correct me if im wrong) some kind of Opengl to DX11 simulator. If belive similiar thing can be done for Citra or im am wrong?

I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
