In search of gamepads that don't suck that might wotk on Vita / PSTV, someone recommended XBox. I shudder, but has anyone tested? Heard X1Vita only handles original model Crossbone pads, no elites, 3rd party, etc. VitaControl may work but I worry the analog bug (limited threshold on Switch Pro) will still be there. Ideally, that known bug would get fixed. What works?

My PSTV doesn't like DS4 for some reason (DS34 and the separate ones). The Bluetooth device page refreshes like mad and then all pads stop working. But mainly, I don't like the sunken in Start / Select (Share?) on DS4. Not comfortable at all. I'd prefer Switch Pro but VitaControl limits the analog threshold, making many games unplayable. So figure maybe I'll give the Crossbone a chance. But I don't know anyone that has such a pad.

Been looking at USB controller adapters, and so far the only one I can find any discussion of evidence of working with the VitaTV/PSTV is the Cronus Max, which... can get pricey nowadays (loose seems to be ~$60, complete open packages seem to go for $120USD and up). (Source: Reddit r/VitaTV: I tested all my USB controllers...). The software can still be found via the Wayback Machine.

I have a Mayflash NS2 but it doesn't seem to like Xinput - flat-out refuses to work, won't even let the light show. Maybe earlier versions might work, as the Reddit post mentioned Xbox 360 controllers functioning.

The Brooks Wingman series might work but you need the right one, and they're about as pricey as a loose Cronus Max with no guarantee (although none of this is guaranteed and is all from third-hand knowledge).

Well, I have a Mayflash Magic S Ultimate or whatever it's called on order. Don't know the difference from the Magic S Pro 2 but it's newer. But this dongle's like longer than my PSTV, so it'll be unsightly. May use it on my PS3 too though.

Good luck. Its not something I've heard much about. Most people use DS3/DS4/DualSense controllers. In fact I got a DS4 just for the system. If you have positive results let us know.

As for your previous post:
I use VitaControl to use a Switch Pro pad. But it has analog calibration issues preventing max values. Example: In World of Final Fantasy, you can only tiptoe, and not even diagnally. In YS: Memories of Celceta, you can't run right but can run left. Tried AnalogsEnhancer but it made no differnce. Any fix? Or any ideal 3rd party pad? I'd use a PS4 pad for its touchpad if not for the sunken-in 'Start / Select'
One thing I've found is that too many similar apps can cause problems and conflict with each other. I'd try deleting all the corresponding apps from whatever app you use (with a DS3/4 controller connected for normal functionality), then install them one at a time, testing each one after they are installed.

It's actually a known issue. Probably not difficult to fix, but the dev seems to have vanished off the face of the Earth and I can't do any kind of compiling / building with just a mere Vita.

Mayflash S Ultimate arrived. Switch Pro works on PS3 (haven't tested safe mode). Yet the adapter's not compatible with PSTV ("Device not supported") despite native PS3 pad support?
Post automatically merged:

X1Vita seems to work. I picked up a Crossbone pad at a local shop. Guy was dumbfounded as I seamlessly paired it width my Vita. Ran Vita Hardware Test to ensure the analog sticks reach a full range of 0...255 (which VitaControl doesn't allow with Switch Pro). Haven't tested with actual games at home yet because I need AA batteries (Guy had some on hand for testing purposes only). Or maybe they make rechargeable packs? Wonder what's best.

But the reason I got the Crossbone controller was because VitaControl was crap (fair to say since the developer won't acknowledge the Github issues), at least for Switch Pro, for lacking full analog stick support. Maybe it's good for this but I changed over to X1Vita. No issues. I have a couple USB-C battery packs arriving someday too.
