um hello nintendo will charge just as much to fix it

Well send it to a stranger off the internet and give him $99 and your Wii.

Considering you can have preloader just autoboot a file that you use the most directly on boot, any sort of 1 or 2 second extra delay is a pretty moot point.

I have bootmii installed to boot2 autobooting the system menu which boots preloader instead which autoboots Coverfloader.

Could someone test the same thing with Crap? Someone who has preloader installed.
I've used both CRAP and YAULCT to create a wad from "A Boy and his Blob". The wad created from YAULCT caused a banner brick while CRAP wouldn't even let me create it. I can reproduce the message if you'd like, but it was something like "Invalid banner file or banner file not found".

Something is different about this game that doesn't allow you to create a wad from it, that's all. I wish I knew, but I'll just have to run it from disc/usb loader in the meantime.

how would I know if I create a channel with Loadstructor, if it will or will not brick my Wii? I use it to create many channels but so far(knock on wood) I didn't encounter a brick, hope I never will either, yes I have both bootmii and preloader

unlike in the UK stuff advertised online here is actually real. i sent my wii to 1 of these places to get it chipped and got it back.

damn man, idk this sucks, but i dont think you can blame loadstructor on this one.

its clearly the .iso's banner.

no one has examined it yet?
it loads fine from disc?

Hm, are you guys all using an ISO you downloaded? Are you sure the ISO isn't messed with in some way? Before I bought WiiFit Plus, I downloaded an ISO...I could not create a channel from it, though when I got the disc in my hands and dumped it, I could from that image of the game. I think it was scrubbed at least, it seems like that messed up the 'creation' process (pretty sure it was scrubbed, but if not, someone did something pretty weird to it). It worked fine to play the game, but the channel couldn't be created.

Ok, I wanted to try this with Scrap but...

I DL the ProCiSiON release(the only one ATM?) of A Boy and his Blob but WiiScrubber cannot open it.

I am not aware if Loadstructor needs the extraction of the opening.bnr done manually but I could not test it.

If you guys had another release of the game, LMK that I can test it.

It's always gotten the banner itself when I've tried it (for the record: never had any problems with it, which is why it sounds to me like the ISO you guys are using).

Hmmm, Loadstructor is extracting the opening.bnr itself, ignoring if the ISO is damaged(unusable) or not? OMG.

both me and Dragonaqua got bricked by this game it can't be a coincidence. A Boy And His Blob USA WII ProCiSiON

Dang. It´s the only one out there ATM, so it should be taken down... before more Wiis get bricked.

Edit: I´m gonna reproduce the error, maybe when playing around with the settings it works. Loadstructor makes a .wad without any warnings that the ISO is/could be corrupted...

Reading loader...
--------------------------------
Reading C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\Administrator\Desktop\A Boy And His Blob USA\xxx-bab.iso...
Disc ID: SBLE5G
Game title: a boy and his blob
Extracting opening.bnr...
Packing WAD file: xxx-bab.wad
WAD ID: UBLE
C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\Administrator\Desktop\Loadstructor-1.7+cLoader-1.6\Loadstructor-1.7+cLoader-1.6\wads\xxx-bab.wad created!
--------------------------------
Done. Created 1 wads of 1

Now off to install.

Edit2: Tried several combinations of the wad(created it with different options) but no avail. It installs fine and when you exit Wad Manager "oh noez ma wii is bricked".

This is maybe a new copy protection or more like a new anti pirating protection made by Ninty... because I cannot understand why the game itself is running fine through BL or USB Loader but you cannot open it in WiiScrubber...

it's gotta be a new protection for sure. N are now trying to brick your wii on purpose so you send it in to them so they can put 4.2 on it!

every1 needs to be warned about this wad and not to use it.

I created a new topic which should warn users about bricking wads and this one is already in.

Well, the problem is loadstructor and maybe other programs doesn't do any check on the banner file... we can't be 100% sure if a banner will brick a wii or not but at least the banner header should be checked which starts like IMET blah blah... Crap does indeed check this...

Also MD5 hash in the banner file could also be checked... Still one can still get a banner brick with a banner that has correct header and md5 hash... That's the reason why you see a disclaimer advising you to have a banner brick measure in Crap everytime you open the thing.

Once I did brick my wii because of a bad banner I created for my custom boulderdash c64 game injection.. Thought I was safe because I had a modchip & everyone up till point never told some modchips fucked up with autoboot discs. Sure I was lucky still being on 3.2 and have all the bugs of nintendo... replaced the drive with a wiikey2 modded one and solved...

Things changed, make sure you have one of these against banner bricks...

1. bootmii installed as boot2
2. preloader
3. trucha bug in menu ios & a modchip so that you can use custom discs. Also a savemii or an unassembled gc controller... For those who have a autoboot choking modchip like d2ckey extra patches needed in system menu (skip diagnostic disc check)

Also don't count on the fact that you have those, don't be lazy and just test your unbricking method before you encounter the brick.

See, this is why I was thinking it was the ISO. I doubt it's specifically A Boy and His Blob.
