And making a single player of a MMORPG, is without a doubt, a bad ideia.
Tell that to Square-Enix, I mean think about what Final Fantasy XII essentially is.

You are talking about FFXI, FFXII is a normal RPG.

FFXII mechanics are closer to a MMORPG played by a single player than to a classic RPG.

MMO's crave ram. We would be unable to make the game work with the real game, removing most, if not any, point of the game. No one is going to DL a game that help you "practice" quests

I still think diablo 1 and 2 would be better than any MMO. Plus if you can get diablo 1 clone to be 4 player and diablo 2 to be 8 but that would take a load of work. But single player would still be awesome.

I think (like everyone else seems to):
An MMORPG is possible and a good idea, but may take a ridiculous amount of work, you would need a massive team of homebrewers (actually that as a concept is pretty cool, a breakthrough if you ask me, but just not really likely to happen)
But WoW, just don't bother
Probably easier to just make a normal RPG

I could never see WoW but a possible idea would be maple story, its a MMORPG it's fun and I dont see it being to hard to make comapred to WoW.

I think it would be better if it was like the game mechanics of Guild Wars because I think the ds isnt able to work a very big amount of people on one server...

about how the game gotta look.... just steal the concept of a good 2d mmo or rpg.

Yeah I may make my own MMO. We will see right now MSVS C++ isnt liking me to much for installing. i has 2003 then i uninstalled it and tried to get 2005 and now neither of them are working.

Quit while you're ahead. I don't see a functional MMO for DS being made in under 4MB. There are many things you must consider like what server would you use (hosting isn't free), how to work around the 30kb(B?)/s wifi pipeline speed, and how to make it fun.

well its wroth a try for something like maple story or least things thats 2d
but i think something like wow is a little too much for a ds can handle =/
since wizit is trying to make maple story on ds, its proby possible
but i just wana know, if its possible for a ds to connected via wifi and go online w/ everybody else thats on their pc as well
also i doubt wow is possable to be on ds tho

i think the best a ds can do is maybe ragnarok =S but either way if you still wana try

Making your own original game designed from the ground up is the most awarding. The only thing that will go off slower is name recognition, but recreating existing MMO's is plagiarism and disrespectful to the original creators.

Come up with a real simple idea, make it, test if you like it, then expand it. When it becomrd something quite worth playing release it. Releasing walking demos as a preview is nice for those waiting to play your game but also gives you more pressure from them. Pressure with projects you're not making money off is generally unwanted (Except for school projects...).

Well Ragnarok Online DS is comming soon & will be an MMORPG, so i guess you should just put your time into something else & just wait for an MMO game to be released, like RO-DS which is comming around this year some time.

They announced it 2 years ago, and got pushed and pushed back. Also no "real" info whatsoever. I'm starting to think it's a big fake.

Or it'll be like Maple Story. A simple single-player version of the MMORPG one.
