The creatively bankrupt nature of Hollywood has been a subject of much derision for decades now. Normally it is about pointless remakes but pointless sequels is another one. Plenty of things have got sequels even decades later so time is no great factor, and CGI is enough to bring people back from the dead these days so no worries there either.
To that end you wake up tomorrow and a sequel to a favourite film is announced, however it is a film that could not and should not get a sequel. Go go same genre if you want but action film becomes character drama if you think it would be amusing enough.

For instance Space Cowboys. The marriage at the end of the film ends up struggling due to resentment over the death and an adrenaline high like that is unlikely to be equalled, the talk show circuit dries up and we see the breakdown and financial woes.
