I just got MPlayer CE on my Wii and I want to stream some movies to my HDTV from my Macbook via Wii. I enabled SMB sharing on my Macbook so thats on and I share my Desktop and Downloads folder. I went to mplayer.conf or whatever and add the line on the top:
Code:
stream = smb://192.168.xx.xx/
so I put the right IP. When I go to MPlayer it say SMB Server 1-5 and each one errors me it can't connect... I never got a network connecting dialog or anything... what am I doing wrong. Thanks guys!
Thanks!!!!

Open smb.conf.

Code:
#Samba share1ÂÂ(smb1:/)
ip1=192.168.0.1
share1=films
user1=
pass1=

Ip of your computer
The name of the shared folder
Username (if needed)
Password (if needed)

For some reason certain video files wont play for me over smb. AVI files from season packs all the same release group with similar file names but sometimes mplayer just says "opening stream" then displays the background, the video never starts. Any ideas?

So with this I don't need what I did in mplayer.conf?

you set up SMB in SMB.conf. I never touched any other files and it works on the mplayer end. Now setting up the computer is something different. I also get occasional problems connecting and exiting and re-entering the program usually fixes this. I also still use an older version because i find the smb works better with version 6.01.

    yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
    @TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
    I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
