$114? Hardmods may have a small advantage over softmods, but when it comes to the end, support is the best advantage softmod has to offer.

well, since i have 3 different usb drives that refuse to be recognized using cios rev 14, i guess this could be a good option for me:)

or you could get a compatible one from the wiki list or even install cIOS222/223

i guess although its quite expensive, its good for people who dont want to fiddle around with the whole ios/cios thing. i also like it that you dont have to use the wbfs format. as long as it works as advertised (no worries about wii sytem updates etc) i would be happy with it.

to be honest..it doesnt seem that attractive, let us consider this:

1 - Nintendo, has shown "us" that hardmod's can be striked. Let us see 4.2 , that already disabled many chips or removed functionality from the sames.

2 - WODE Tech Support, will never ...ever...be better than the wii modscene comunity. They can try...but never get the same answer as the comunity provides.

3 - There is no proof what-so-ever than H.Disks that dont work on cIOS249/222 will ever work on WODE. Are their "drivers" better than cIOS?

4 - Will people really open their consoles just to get what they can with Softmod and some care?

PS: I gotta admit, that GC emulation looks nice, and impossible now-a-days...but so did USB Loading..some 1 year ago.

Agreed with #2 definitely. You have a new talented that's developing an awesome product, but to say the least, who knows whether they would continue their support a year or two from now?

It's possible that you don't have to worry about wii system updates for a couple of months. As mentioned previously, I'm not sure if that could be said about a year from now.

thanks for your opinions so far...as long as its not released yet its hard to tell if its going to be good or not, i just think the specifications are promising.

of course that tiny blue screen is not as sexy as wiiflow, but i like the idea that its supposed to play anything no matter what. if that indeed is the case and if that will remain so is indeed something that we will find out later

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
