Not to mention possible extra update wires of course.

As others stated, all you have to do is solder the wires to the pads on the chip. IMO it is very easy to do so have fun. For me, the features of the Wiikey are killer. Hope this help you.

I'm pretty sure... along with the argon (not compatible with wlip though).

But yea.. I recommend getting a wiinja or something similar... If you're going to buy a clip on modchip anyway.. why force yourself to do more soldering.

Not to mention the wiinja deluxe has full support for PAL, NTSC and JAP on an NTSC wii. (or so they claim).

I believe none of the current modchips for d2a/d2b have 100% regionfree supports.
They all use the same method for patching and will therefore have the same results.

mekaone, I've passed you! Haha. My Wlip left Philadelphia at 11:30 this morning. This is crap, I'm sure it'll get to Des Monies Monday and then just sit there until it goes out for delivery on Wednesday.

For those wondering, I'm going to be using YAOSM with my Wiikey. Everything is here ready to go except the Wlip and my damn RS232 cable for the PIC programmer. It's been over two weeks since I ordered that pile on eBay. I plan to record the installation of my Wlip/YAOSM and will be sure to update here with the results.

i havent read the entire thread
Or watched the video in a while

But....

How about power? 3.3v? Where does it come from?
You will still need to solder to the pads...and that will mean voiding your warranty (if you still have one)

Can you get an 8 pin pic or some kind of 8 pin pic adapter to solder the Wiikey to that then clip it into the Wlip?

I ordered a pic programmer anyway because I like playing with things and trying it out that way too.

Since my wlip should be here within a weeks time i just need to find a wiinja deluxe or i wanna find one cause i don't wanna have to rip wires out and solder if i really don't have to..

Just like I said! My Wlip is sitting in Des Moines (just 30 minutes away) and the scheduled delivery time is still 1/30/2008 which is Wednesday! C'mon!

For anyone interested in an open source chip, such as YAOSM, I have a 7 extra PICs here that I'd be willing to program and mail out to GBAtemp members for $10 with free updates (send the PIC back to me, I'll update and send it back - you pay shipping only) if anyone wants an open source chip without having to buy a programmer. Just send me a PM if you're interested!

Bobitos.

I'm first. LOL. Sorry

I was just thinking that I have a cough and don't feel all that good.
I think I am going to have to call in sick! LOL
Hummmmm? What to do with my time home sick?
I also have season 1 of Naruto to fill in some of the time.
What a full sick day I am going to have.

Only 4 days to get to me. Wow.
I'll report to all when I am done as to how it went.
I expect it is going to be easy as cake.

bobitos, why don't you drive over there, if it's only 30mins. I'm sure with identification they'll let you pick it up. Saves them the journey

Actually, no, they'll never let someone pick up a package until they've attempted delivery at least once. But that's a moot point anyways, as it's in town and out for delivery today! If my RS232cable is here I'll post impressions tonight!

My wlip has arrived! same time as I arrived home conviniently.
I'm still waiting for the chip before i install though.

You can pick up a programmer on ebay with a free pic chip included for about $14. Attach it to your computer, download the software and the open source for the chip and install it on the chip, clip the chip to the Wlip, clip the Wlip to the Wii DVD Drive and done. Very cheap and quick.
