Hi,the reason I actually decided to mess about with configs was because I had a 3ds with a busted cpad,I wanted to make a config that allows me to play monster hunter,I used a similar config as the one I mentioned but a little bit modified where the physical dpad can act as either a dpad(dpad mode) or cpad(cpad mode),I could toggle between "modes" at any time simply by pressing the select button....anyways glad that my suggestion worked for you.
I just checked this thread again, do you think you could share your config with toggling between dpad or cpad "modes" with the select button? That sounds really interesting.

So I want to combine this with an old 3DS XL + controller board. Is it possible to force 3DS to always use Circle Pad Pro? Controller board only does Circle Pad Pro stuff if IR is activated.

hey
having trouble downloading this, got rehidhelper installed but once i start downloading rehid through rehidhelper it says download complete, screen turns off for a sec then tells me "verification failed. please manually install the app." could anyone direct me to where i can download manually and if it is even still supported now that rehidhelper is out? many thanks

You download the .cxi file from https://github.com/hax0kartik/rehid/releases/tag/v4.0 and copy it into /luma/sysmodules/ I believe.

ok this is insanity, dunno if someone already solved the problem but ive been trying to get rehid to work right for half an year and a simply cant

all i want is a simple d-pad to c-pad swap and vice versa- i can make the d-pad work perfectly as a c-pad however i lose the ability to use any functions of the d-pad entirely even if a reprogram it like select+dlef = dleft

honestly all of this wouldnt be a problem if the site for button sawp 3ds wasnt replaced for rehid, last year i lost the sd card of my 2ds but before that i had a buttonswap configuration that worked perfectly, it changed the d-pad to the c-pad but i still had access to the d-pad by holding select

without this shin megami tensei 4 is literally unplayable due to some sections needing the d-pad, same with the end portion of kh ddd needing the d-pad for the ending, in fact before losing my sd card i was able to beat smt 4 without any problems

thats why i hate forced updates, we had something that worked perfectly for what it did but it was changed for someone else for the sake of being "new", sure rehid does more stuff but it cant do something basic that buttonswap3ds was able to do

i have even tried to use the wayback machine to use the old buttonswap config but there is no backups before it was changed to the rehid version and ive been so frustrated that i am almost considering learning assembly just to be able to use buttonswap again

sorry for the rant, just really been frustration by all of this, if anyone knows a solution i would be really grateful

So far I've been able to find that dpad to cpad can do cpad performing only as dpad, or cpad performing as dpad and cpad at the same time. I'm not sure if this helps, it probably doesn't.

Apparently another guy was able to make a hotkey to toggle cpad between dpad-only and cpad plus dpad at the same time, but he never ended up sharing it here.

Though, if you know that buttonswap3ds works for your requirements, wouldn't you be able to keep using that?

thanks for the awnser, i know buttonswap works for me but the page was build it was changed to a rehid config page, meaning that if i want to use it i would have to both learn assembly and learn how to compile 3ds cias by myself, thats my problem with it

if the config page for buttonswap 3ds was still up i could just go there and make my own config like i did in the past before i lost my sd card

Hi. Is there a way of remaping the Home and Power buttons? The way I hold my N3ds let my finger on power button and occasionally a end up pressing it. Im tired of playing the same sessions just because of this design flaw. Thx in advance. Sorry for my English....

I've had rehid on my N3dsXL for a while, and randomly my mapping stopped working. I've checked my sd card and the remap still there, but it isn't functional. I went to the github page to try to redownload it to see if a clean install works, but none of the files I have in my Luma folder match the titles that the page says to delete to update, even though when I go to the Homebrew menu I can open the software no problem. Should I just delete the rehid folder off of the sd? I'm not sure what's going on there; but I have the most recent version of Luma, and am pretty sure I have the most recent version of rehid, so I'm not sure if that's the problem.

Could this be an issue with the remap itself? Is there a good way of creating the remap on my computer instead of the console proper? This whole situation is tricky because the button I have remapped is my non-functional B button, which complicates basically everything.

I have plans to open up the console and trying to fix the button directly, but have to wait at least until next week probably to do so, and I need my system in the meantime.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice :]

EDIT: I managed to find some time to open it up and cleaned up the contacts for the buttons and that fixed the hardware issue! I no longer need the rehid remap, but still feel free to respond to the question just in case any one else finds themself in this situation too :]

Im mostly hoping that I could use my Circle Pad Pro on games that dont natively support it, like Dragon Quest VIII has camera controls tied to the dpad and Id love to remap them to the cpp. It seemed like that was something I would be able to do from reading some of this thread, but in practice I've gotten no results.

I can see there's an option for "Override Circle Pad Pro" but I have to assume now with what I've tried that it only works with games that supported it in the first place?

I've been trying to get this to work but when I get to select the game it won't let me I even tried deleting everything and downloading again to the most recent version... If anyone ran into this issue or knows what I'm doing wrong please tell me <3

I'm really loving this!
making games more one-handed is so cool.

... one question i couldn't find the answer to-

does rehid introduce any input-lag at all?
(not that i've noticed any, i'm just wondering about the implementation) thanks!

hi how can i do that and put the home button with ZR+ZL combo
idk if you can do that with just two button inputs, might need another one or two.

Can't for the life of me make this work as it should. I really miss the simplicity of ButtonSwap3DS, this made me play Animal Crossing exactly how I wanted it to. It's a shame the page is no longer up.

My Luma is on v13.3.3 and the Fourth Version of Rehid, the ,3dsx one, seems to no longer work on any game I try. If I try to install the .cia for Rehid via Universal Updater and Enable it the volume when using headphones gets unbeliavably low. I'm at a loss.

All I wanted was to make the d-pad also work as a circle pad on Animal Crossing and making Y+dpad change the items. I was able to do this so easily with ButtonSwap3DS. It was how I played back in 2020, no issues.

Hello Kartik. Thanks for making this. My home button is broken, so I am hoping to do a permanent remap of home to Y+X. I see from the recent release notes that home is now supported, but I don't see the proper syntax. Is it just HOME? Also, I see how to remap for individual games, but how to I do it systemwide so I can remap home in all instances? Do I just put the .json in the rehid directory (and not in a directory for a particular titleid)?

EDIT: I figured it out. For those who see this and have the same question: the syntax is "homebutton". The entire .json line should just read "{"homebutton":"Y+X"}". It should be stored in the rehid directory in the root of the SD card. Easiest way is to do it is to install the rehidhelper.3dsx app and configure the home button swap under the "general options" section of the 3ds remap builder tool. Then use the rehidhelper app to scan the QR code. Once the code is accepted, you will be able to select any particular title, or scroll all the way to the right and select the tile with the "G" to apply globally.
I know I'm late but I love you for this answer man ❤️
